That stoerner fumble may be the luckiest play in UT history, but I'll take it. Most teams that win titles have a bunch of luck.

ALL TEAMS that win titles have luck.

Every year there is almost always a very big break that goes the champs way.

Has there ever been a better college football call that didn't involve the cal/stanford play? Seriously, that's a great call.

how about fat alberts three inch vertical to block lincoln's kick? now that was a play that saved their season, and also having to play another weak big 12 team in title game

Agreed. I don't have a ton of respect for John Elway, because instead of embracing that moment as being one of the greatest for college football, he still whines and pouts that it was illegal and should have been overturned, and refuses to do interviews about it.

What a baby.

Ya, Texas was a real pansy... A little early to be drinking, but I guess we Vols do what we must these days.

UT should give dooley at least 3 years to turn around the program which is at a very low point right now.

The three-inch vertical was wasted. He blocked it with his armpit.
:good!:

Dunno about saving our season... Depends whether the kick would have been good. Glad we didn't get to find out.

Weak Big 12 team... whatever.

Thinking about the '98 NC season, another example of our 'luck': in the first game against Syracuse, we were trailing late, driving for a FG or TD. It was 4th and long near mid-field. Tee Martin threw a pass to Cedric Wilson (?) that was incomplete, but the ref correctly called pass interference. With a new set of downs, we continued to drive, and kicked a field goal to win the game.

I've often thought of that 4th down play, because in football, you get no-calls on pass interference all the time. Without that call we don't beat Syracuse and probably we don't get to play in the NC game. There were so many crucial plays that season.

Say whatever you want, but you know you and every Bama fan in that stadium were a mere seconds away from massive heart attacks.
