I may be beating a dead horse at this point...

We are 4-5, coach has his pants leg caught in the door, fans ready to tar & feather the Administrators, and you concerned about how much money Adidas pays the school?

"COME ON MAN!!!!!" (Chris Carter voice)

If we're going to turn into the Ringling Bros. we may as well look good while we're doing it

1) I dont think there is a big name football recruit that would choose another school over us for the sole reason that they are a Nike school, (maybe some less well know kids that arent highly recriuted or dont expect to see much PT), that being said i do think both Nike and Under Armor hold camps and combines for some of the top players and I'm sure their schools coaches are aloud to attend and talk with these kids all on Nike's or UA's dime wich can only help in recruiting.

2) I believe having Nike over Adidas does have and advantage in recrtuiting in basketball however! We may possibly miss out on a 4 or 5 star guy that wants a Nike or Jordan school.

3) for all the people saying if we go to Nike they would ruin our look... Have you watched Bama at all over the last 10 years? Did they once come out in anything but their regular unis?

Adidas gives us a much better contract than Nike would. Nike would treat us like a second rate school. whereas we're a top priority for Adidas. That's the truth, and that's why we're not changing any time soon.

I like our uniforms. But it would be nice to have an alternate or 2. I really like the white jersey with the orange shoulders. We need to break those back out.

With the way things are going down in Knoxville, Adidas will probably dump us.

Nebraska... Potential big 10 champs

Notre Dame... Undefeated #4

Michigan... Top 25, and killing it with recruiting.

UCLA... Potential Pac 12 champs.

Texas A&M... Having a great 1st season in the SEC.

Maybe that's why we don't have an alternate uni... It ain't worth it to Adidas.

...and it's not our biggest issue - but exactly how much is Adidas paying us? I find it very hard to believe it's much more than a company like Nike would.

I'm fine with the team's Adidas gear (although I think the fan apparel is lacking), but the recruits and fans really respond to the Nike brand. Even if Nike pays 5-10% less/yr, wouldn't it still be a wiser investment considering the amount of apparel they would push just in the first few months? It seems like sales would cover that gap pretty quickly, even though we would be starting in the hole after making the switch.

Not to mention it would possibly give us 1 recruit every year that we may not get otherwise.

Thoughts?

The sponsor is less likely to make any difference. The popularity of the team will be the main factor in merchandise sales and the popularity is largely based on the success or failure if the team.

It has been reported many times that Adidas pays much more than anything Nike was offering (I'm sure deerpark has already made an appearance here).

I honestly don't see the difference between the two quality wise but Adidas has given us all we've asked for and more.
