I may be beating a dead horse at this point...

...and it's not our biggest issue - but exactly how much is Adidas paying us? I find it very hard to believe it's much more than a company like Nike would.

I'm fine with the team's Adidas gear (although I think the fan apparel is lacking), but the recruits and fans really respond to the Nike brand. Even if Nike pays 5-10% less/yr, wouldn't it still be a wiser investment considering the amount of apparel they would push just in the first few months? It seems like sales would cover that gap pretty quickly, even though we would be starting in the hole after making the switch.

Not to mention it would possibly give us 1 recruit every year that we may not get otherwise.

Thoughts?

They would put the word SWAG on our uni's 100 times and then our players would be wearing shoes like this with our uni's...

Nike wouldn't care about UT and Adidas does. More money, better access, more control, etc

Someone get Converse on the horn. I could see it now, old style Converse All Stars with cleats. Dooley on the sideline with his cane and his 70's platform shoes with aquariums in them. UT taking it back!

Go with Nike. Ole timers hate alternate jerseys but imagine the possibilities.....which with new uniforms comes excitement = wins = happy players and fans. Just look at Notre Dame, Brian Kelly went to board and said yes I love our traditional gear but we need alternates for x,y,z.

Happier fans means they are spending more money, too. This is the argument I'm trying to make.

Just give me a proven winning coach and I will be happy. If this team was winning and in the hunt for the SEC, shoes, jersey colors, and the company making the equipment would be the least of our worries. Losing tends to make people over analyze things.

Let's just get rid of our "LA Gear" coach and get us a winner.

We are 4-5, coach has his pants leg caught in the door, fans ready to tar & feather the Administrators, and you concerned about how much money Adidas pays the school?
