I love, love, love Heupel, BUT

I agree with you. I miss the days when coaches respected the game, the university, the fans and most of all their players to represent themselves professionally. He reminds me of "Otis" on Andy Griffith. Really like CJH, just wished he took to appearance game to the next level or two. Feel free to disagree with the "as long as we're winning, I don't care". Fine, remember that when your daughter brings home a real loser and says, "But daddy, I'm happy".

Stubble is now disrespectful to the fans, University and the game of football?

Yes to original poster on doubling down on bad decisions. It's like he is imitating what John Chavis used to do and give games away with his infamous mustang defense and applies it to the offensive side. It's called can't learn from mistakes. Keep repeating stupid decisions and hope for a different outcome.

I disagree. I don't think it was a blunder. I think it was a calculated decision and one that paid off.
Not using the to’s at :15 or whatever is inarguably stupid…there’s no calculated decision because there risk/reward is so obvious. To argue for that strategy is to have the IQ of…well, your avg football coach. Which is sad given they make millions a year.

Letting time run off the clock like we did at the start of the drive IS a calculated decision with pluses and minuses and that was the right call.

The end was unimaginably stupid.

And the end of 1H was a blunder also because who thinks they are going for it 4th and 1 at their own 37? DUMB

Imo a terrible blunder, should have tried to score in regulation, instead of letting too much time run off the clock and giving us a chance to score. I really like Hype and 100% support him as our hc, however, this was terrible clock management.
Sometimes going for the score isn't the right call. Ask Kirby.

Yeah he makes millions and has real life consequences when he makes the wrong snap second decision unlike you pressing pause and quitting on your CFB dynasty.

Completely irrational. She's just as likely to bring home a clean-cut loser who beats her.

You realize you're talking about a guy who is operating at the top .1% of his profession.

You understand that’s not an argument, right?

If he’s unable to think fast enough to figure out the risk/reward in his head that’s sorta sad, but at least hire someone to help you with it.

If you call a to after the 1st down you have 2 plays to get 6-8 yards for a fg…if you don’t you have 1…anyone who doesn’t understand that is not smart is just…not very smart

Don't disagree...some definite head-scratcher decisions...

And...this one I'll admit is really petty...but geez, I kinda wish he cared more about his appearance on the sideline. The slobb-ish look seems to be getting worse the longer he's here. He looks like a Dad on vacation at the beach who decided not to shave for a week.
(Admittedly not the most important thing, but that job deserves a little more image effort, IMO)
“Pastor” 🙄

Clock management is clearly the most difficult task for a coach to master. Ive seem the greatest in the game (Saban) completely butcher it that cost his team a shot at the NC.

Most of us have no clue what all is involved & how difficult it is to get a play called, down & distance wise, & get it communicated to 11 people to execute in 5 seconds.

Lebby ran three pass plays under 2 mins and gave it right back to UT. Heupal decided that UT would either score or go into overtime with that intentional clock management, no giving it back to State. That decision cost him in the end by not enough time for the fg, but if they didn’t make the first down, it could have easily the other way as well. If they were behind, he would have done it differently.

Yes had he not scored or scored but left time for Miss State to come back and either tie or win the game in regulation - everyone would be complaining because "he did not take time off the clock".

It is a gamble either way and if we score and win, everyone cheers, but if it doesn't happen then we get folks in a forum playing arm chair coach in retrospective.

I dont think hes trying to be attractive hes a peoples coach appealing to kids who want a cool, fun coach
I never said he should be “attractive”. However, being presentable and put together is a pretty low bar at any job, much less one where he is so visible to the public AND making the money he is. It’s not like he struggles to afford necessities and clothes that fit correctly.

It all comes down to trust. Huep doesn’t fully trust Joey to not throw a pick in that situation.

The rule is, you end the game with the ball in your hand. We did that. If we had pressed and turned the ball over, or hurried and had to punt that would have been tragic.
