...Alvin Kamara (arguably even John Kelly) is the type of back this offense was constructed for. He spreads the field all over the place and creates all kinds of mismatches and really opens up the playbook.

Agree, Kamara and Kelly hit the hole with much quicker and harder than Hurd.

And I want to be clear, this isn't a knock on Hurd, but it's a square peg in a round hole at this point. When he's in the game I think we are predictable and limited based on the structure of the offense.

Butch has a nice problem to deal with... two excellent backs that bring a different dimension than Hurd... got to get them in the mix when Hurd is ready to go again.

Today showed that Kamara should have had more touches previous games. No excuses with Hurd and Kamara in your back field. Just not sure what the heck in the 1st half. Should we just let teams have 14 to start the game to get the team going.

This. Both backs are great and can serve a purpose on this team. And the future looks bright with John Kelly next year.

Byrd and Jennings need more touches... It seems they want the ball more than our two 5* receivers, and they are willing to fight to get the ball, which I don't see in Malone...

I really expected more from Wolf (and TEs in general) this year as well, but seems like he's regressed a little. Anyone know if he's playing hurt?

Always thought Kamara needs more carries. Speed kills, and he's got it. Just needs to hold on to the ball. Kamara opens a lot of options in the passing game also, much more so than Hurd. Also LOVE the way Kelly runs.

Sutton out hurts BAD. We get abused on deeper routes, and will continue to. Our corners continue to make rookie mistakes and we're lucky some aren't even called. This ultimately hurts our Dline as well.

Barnett is just ridiculous. He brings it every play, every half, every game. Incredible talent, and we all will surely will miss him as he plays on Sunday instead. Joy to watch, and enjoy it while we can folks.

I really like how we started running more screens lately. I don't understand why we didn't when we had O-line troubles first 3 games...

Some things just never change... Tackling is still horrible. Some of the angles we take are laughable. I see players stand around while others are making a tackle... GET IN THERE!! Some of our players just don't have the right football instincts that great players have... I'm hoping this the product of a D-Coordinator change, and will get better over time...

I really really wish we played more North/South on offense. Seems like we just don't have the skills/speed/personnel to get make E/W schemes work. And outside blocking seems to be mediocre. Gotta use the middle of the field more.

I LOVE Jennings's attitude. Kid wants to win badly, and I wish we had more of that tenacity. That said, this team does not quit! Had a lot of self-inflicted wounds today, and unfortunately that led to a loss. Looking at the bright side: I can't believe we lost in 3OT after giving 7 turnovers to a quality A&M team. This team may be unstoppable if they can reduce mistakes. Thats something to look forward to!

Go Vols. Heck of an effort!

Just saying Hurd might have been more effective and might have not gotten hurt if Kamara was used more in previous games.

Hurd should seriously consider converting to Tight End. He'd have a much longer career that way anyway.

I think our offensive line is what is hurting Jalen. I agree that going forward - Kamara & Kelly should be used tremendously. Their speed, and elusiveness really makes it hard for a defense to keep up

Byrd & Jennings, Im there witcha. Agreed about Wolf he appears to be very tentative and IMO has taken a giant step backwards. Not going to knock Hurd in any way as a RB. Kamara does need more involvement and touches. Kelly I feel good about but all three have put the ball on the ground waaaaaaaaay to much to be big time RBs, they all need to work on that. Agree we have to figure out something at both corners, we get burned by programs big and small with timing routes down the sideline, an always trailing CB and a late safety. CBs getting waaaaaaaay to many PIs, may need to find a good coach, whatever is happening with DBs is NOT getting better. Barnett witcha 100%. I liked your comment about more North South, but we consistently have drives killed when we call a play that keeps the ball behind the LOS waaaaaaaaay too long, third down plays, the ball should not be behind the LOS more than 4 seconds EVER, pass or run makes no difference, get the ball out on time if it's a pass or throw it away. Rushing, get the ball up field quickly, not stringing things out behind the LOS so the whole defense has a chance to converge even if you do get beyond it. Jennings is a baaaaaaaad man, young man is a head hunter, backs off from no one. If it's a fight for the ball, I want him in on it. Lots to work on, no hand wringing over this loss, they gave it their best shot, came up short. Fix the issues and get it done.

They looked great, but aTm defense is not as good as UF, VT, GA

It's hard to argue against this at this point. Kamara just fits the offense, and he's a hard runner in his own right.
