I like Dooley. I want him to succeed. But I don't believe he will.

To all you "Kiffin Lovers" out there that are ready to fired CDD....get over the hero worship!!! Its funny to me that 2 days before Kiffin left nobody was saying that UT didnt have the tallent to have a winning record and how tough things were going to be the next 3-4 years....I do believe even some were even "expecting great things next season". UT has had 2 top 10 classes in a row, and there was some really good players on this team before Kiffin came here so I dont see how we will be lucky to be 6-6. Sorry, but I think we`ve got some tallent on this team...will we go 12-0? No, but I think we will be a very competitive team. The difference between the 2009 Vols and the 2010 Vols is we have another top 10 class and we have a different coaching staff and I may be wrong but I really believe will be better than Kiffins staff. Do I think we will win the SEC???....I sure do hope so, but probably not. But I believe in my heart that we will finish better than 7-6.....I would bet the farm on that!!!

Where is your farm located I have always wanted to own one.....

it won't take three years before he is gone. Bringing his La tech coaches from that loser and now recruiting Tennessee like it is Fl or Georgia will kill this guy before he can be slapped around by the powers in the conference. He is on a short leash, is talking about credibility, recruiting good citizens which is a code word for getting your ass beat.

Dooely will be a recruiting machine and prove all his critics wrong after he stocks the roster with a ton of 5 star studs!!! Mark it down--Dooley wins the SEC in the next 4 years!!!

Ok chief. We had a top ten class last year. A top ten class this year, and if he can land another one( i believe he will) that means 3 straight years of top ten. That adds up to talent and depth across the board. There would be no reason we shouldnt be able to compete with ANYONE!

Top 10 classes mean diddly when they are mismatched with needs. We've spent the last two getting few linemen on either side.

Sure we had a top 10 class, but we were either 5th or 6the SEC, so we are continuing to fall even further behind our main competition.
My point is we will have talent and depth. That relates to an opportunity to win. I could care less if we are 8th and someone else is 4th or 5th, or even 1st for that matter. Player development and character (nukeese) are far more important than a couple of spots in a mythical recruiting ranking

I agree. The same people dogging him will still find fault.

True, we will have talent and depth relative to the majority of the other teams in the NCAA, it will just be inferior to 4 or 5 of the teams we play each year. And ask Florida how important character is. They've had almost 30 arrests since Meyer arrived, and that doesn't seem to have hindered them on the field at all.

You do realize that we manhandled Bama this year, right? So, if we are improving and they are AT the top ( by the way you cant go higher than the top) then we are closing the gap, correct?

Also the two toughest games of the year for us, by far, was Ole Miss and Va Tech. Not Bama and the Gators.
Check out Va Tech's recruiting. It isnt stars It is character, discipline, toughness, and great coaching.

After reading this... I'm going to go ahead and say that you've posted 42 times too many. Sounds like you know absolutely nothing about the current state of the team.

Hmm. That interesting, I seem to recall losing to Alabama for the third straight time last season, being forced into a significant downgrade in our coaching staff, and then getting outrecruited by them for the third year in a row as well. How is that in any way "manhandling" them, or "closing the gap"?

I was with you til this post. The ACC is mediocre at best year in and year out. Va. Tech usually plays 1 tough OOC game a year against the SEC or Big 10 or Big 12 and lose. JMO though

Perhaps I don't. I never really equated trailing the entire game, having massive special teams letdowns throughout, and then needing a late fumble and recovered onside kick to give us a shot at hitting a GW field goal, then having said FG blocked on yet ANOTHER special teams meltdown to "manhandling" the opposition. The only manhandling that occured was that of Terrance Cody on the middle of our offensive line as he blocked 2 field goals with his knees. All that said, the defense did play a hell of a game to keep us in the game and give us hope when we did finally catch those breaks at the end.

Wow, such optimism. You guys said the same thing about the last guy and had he had a kicker that could kick through a fat guys arm pit there would be no NC in the trailor park. Dooley will be just fine. Of course there are parts of the fan base that think there isn't a reason for him to succeed but IMO most people realize that Kiffin leaving set us back. UT fan or not, let him coach a few games before you lay out his prophecy of failure.

Same fat guy who is at the combine projected to sign for millions.
