I posted a few times in other threads that Gundy never had any real interest in the job. He was just bucking for a raise from the school he'll never leave if they don't eventually force him out.

This is the second time he's pulled this crap. How stupid is our AD?

Bring back Lane Kiffin!!!

Mike Gundy says 'no' to UT; SMU's Chad Morris appears to be next on list

thanks for the breaking news...

You're quite welcome, lurker. I wasn't breaking news. I was posting a comment with a link that had been posted 47 minutes before my post. Maybe everybody isn't quite as glued to the page as you are.

Thanks for your pithy contribution, though.

PR move for both parties. Gundy was never an actual candidate. Now hire Brohm and end this madness...

Obviously, I can't agree with you about Brohm, although I don't think he would be terrible. But I'm definitely on board with you about ending the madness.

I just think if we are willing to pay $7 mil per year, we can get somebody really good. Gundy was never coming. Like I and others have said, this isn't the first time he's played this crap.

Who would come for $7 mil?

You called him pithy after you suggested we hire Kiffin?

Ironic.

Exaclty... Other coaches/agents just saw Currie running around with 7-8 million in his pocket.. There is no telling who may have called throughout the night and this morning with interest... (trying to be optimistic)

It could be a movie ...

We're different kinds of people.
******n it, John, you're always right.
With your brains and my screwy ideas,
we make a great team, like in Boca.
Truthfully, if I had been your senior
at USC, I would have relieved you.
John...
...I'm not crawling on my belly
to get a P5 coaching job.
For God's sake, get me in this fight.
The only way out of the doghouse
is to do something great.
I gotta get back in the war!
Saban's own people tried
to kill him a few days ago.
First thing you know,
it'll be over and...
I'll...
...keep my mouth shut.
I'll behave myself.
I give you my word.
Lane...
...I've been working
on a plan called Cobra.
I'd like your opinion.
We've been slugging through
hedgerow country...
...half an acre a day
and we've got to find a way out.
I want to use this offense.
What do you think?
I think you'll need a screwball old
West Coast dude to coach the Vols.
Lane...
...Jimmy and I came to that conclusion
in Knoxville three months ago.
You what?

Hey, it's not just the AD. Every time there's a new search, the fans go nuts over Gruden and Gundy. Each and every time, the imagine that this search will be different. This time we finally get the savior. Each time we get kicked in the teeth. Why? Because the same damned people are running the show. Why expect different results when you keep doing the same thing over and over and over again?? Insanity. UT football is dying. When will the rest of the board do what has to be done? Much like congress I suppose, but I don't expect anything to change. We've gone from a historical 8 win/year program to one that's in disarray, looking for a 6 win season and a bowl game all while thinking we are some sort of royalty among college football programs. Maybe we once had that air about us, but no more. That was then and this is now. We are a national joke and a losing program with a fractured admin and fan base. Feels a bit hopeless if I'm being honest and I've been watching UT since '65. I've not seen it this bad nor have I been so down on my alma mater.

Mike Gundy and his family are anchored in Stillwater, I think we all understand that.
But this is the second or third time he's played with the idea of leaving that program for greener pastures.

Loyalty is a two way affair, Don't be surprised when he is canned after a two more years at 9-3 and third place finishes

Gundy is an OSU alumnus/player. Been coaching there 18 years. 13 years as head coach. Sure are alot of idiots that thought he would give that up to come here.

Nope.

Boone Pickens would never have matched that kind of raise. OSU Athletics cannot afford it when they are operating so close to the red as it is. If he desired to leave, they would have wished him well in his future endeavors and called in Todd Monken for half or less of that price.

The man is staying where he is comfortable and where he knows they will eventually put up a statue of him in front of the stadium. He's the Bill Snyder of OSU.
