I have to admit Fulmer looked like he was hungry for success (no Phil jokes please) he looked like an edgy coach who knew what it took to win. Now he doesnt, of course it doesnt help that he looked younger and brighter then, but I think that was his zenith as the Vol coach.

One doesn't forget how to win. One can, however, portray a certain image of himself in order to alter public opinion.

In defense of Fulmer, that was the best group of players he ever had.

You can contribute it to player development, disclipline, etc. but UT put more players off that team in the NFL then any team I can remember.

Al Wilson, Jamaal Lewis, Shawn Bryson, Peerless Price, etc the list goes on. UT hasn't had another group of players like that.

i think after a certian number years doing something and seeing results of doing that, you tend to expect things to work out that way more times than not. i think that, more than anything, is what CPF's main problem is.

For the vast majority of the beginning of his career he saw titles and 10 win seasons pile up. and the last few years, even though there were a couple of 10 win season's and SEC title game appearances, the thought processes didn't change much. there, in fact, was no reason to based on the results.

but now, as things change around him in the league, what will he do to change himself? i think we would all agree that the "same old, same old" ain't gonna cut it any more.

it's a different league today than it was 5-10 years ago. talent is equally spread across the league, quality coaching is spread across the league, new schemes have been introduced etc, etc, etc....

so what is he going to do to keep up with or surpass his own success he had early on?

if he can do that, then he deserves all the credit. If he can't, he won't be the HC.

Phil is much calmer now that he has Cutcliffe(or however u spell it) back. Cutcliffe is Phil's life support at this point in time.
