I have no idea what we should do with the coaching staff now. We're one of the youngest and greenest teams in America, but under no circumstances do you ever lose to Kentucky. I don't know. I'm just depressed and pissed along with every other Tennessee fan right now.

I backed Dooley last year and most of this year.

But after this season, seeing little to no improvement through the year, seeing us consistently go whole halves without scoring a single point, and witnessing some of the most questionable playcalling I've seen in my life, I am fully off of the Dooley bandwagon.

It's about damn time our AD ponied up some money and hired a coach worth a damn instead of taking the cheap way out.

Agreed.

All I can say is that I hope the Dooley supporters are right - that next year is the year. That all will be well and all of our problems including pathetic coaching will be solved.

It's really hard to evaluate because of the youth, experience, and injuries. But I agree there is no way in hell you lose to Kentucky. At the same time, you have to wonder what happens when the offense gets a full grasp of the playbook (Chaney had to scale it back a lot because Bray and the offense couldn't fully grasp it) and what happens when there's continuity on both sides of the ball.

What I would like to see happen is:

1. Russell go to another team (not bashing him but he had options last year).
2. Dooley coach the TEs and STs (like he did at LSU and in the NFL)
3. Hire a RB coach
4. Get a new OL coach

Gotta go faster on offense, two years in the system we should be able to run a no huddle, fast paced attack.

The defense is gonna be great. I'm confident about that.

I'm not for firing Dooley. He has brought in good recruits that don't rob gas stations & get DUI after DUI. I look at LSU and Les Myles. You know he isn't the sharpest knife in the drawer but he looks really smart this year with Kragthorpe as OC. Tennessee could benefit with a similar hire for OC

He'll have one more year at least. If we don't see vast improvement, from play calling to running, blocking, tackling (you know, the basics of football) then he'll be lucky to see a 4th year.

i've listened to that crap about 'youth', 'injuries', 'bad recruits', 'bad luck', bad this, bad that all damned year. how about adding 'bad coaching'? what happened today was an irrefutable case that dooley is in way over his head. if the vol athletic department and enough suckers among the paying fans swallow anymore of these excuses, then we deserve what's coming (and its not pretty). i figure he's good for two more years minimum because of the idiotic contract the idiot who was our pretend a.d. gave him. after that, i hope that the reputation of ole tennessee hasn't passed the stepping stone point. who knows? we might catch a comer on his way up for a couple of years. for now, we're kentucky without the b.ball, and vandy without the brains.

Adjustments in DD's staff should be considered.
Next year will be better....get some key players back from injury, and influx of needed players will get 7-8 wins.

Big year is out there folks...gotta wait for the 2013 season...it will be a good one.

I agree 100% - Dooley is NOT the answer; giving him a 3rd year like Rich Rod at UM would be kind. I say go ahead and get rid of the entire staff and start from scratch; no way should a program like UT have a head coach with his W/L record.

A big name coach with a reputation for winning will be able to salvage the recruiting class and possibly add a few big targets. No doubt he should be able to win with the talent we'll have next year; not sure we can say that about Dooley...

And for the 'but he's a great guy with values, morals, etc' - doesn't mean a thing on the field. Now how do i change this effin avatar?
