I just don’t get it... why would Baylor look so much better than us

The reason Baylor won the game was the type offensive they run............some offenses can win with totally inferior lineman. When you run a power offensive like our................YOU GOTTA HAVE THE HORSES UP FRONT WITH FULLBACKS THAT ARE BAD DUDES !!!! BAYLOR COULD BEAT SEVERAL SEC TEAMS IN MY OPINION, STRICTLY BECAUSE THE TYPE OFFENSIVE THEY RUN.

If you believe some of the posts a few of our players made. They didn't want to win the Vandy game because they didn't want to go to a nothing bowl and miss time with their families.
At least that is what their posts said and from watching them play the last to games I believe they just didn't put out the effort to win.

Baylor and Vandy are both better football teams than us even though we’ve had higher ranked recruiting classes. Kinda points to coaching and talent development over the years.

I dont think we have had higher ranked classes than vandy. Don't know, just dont think we have.

Then they should not be given but very little if any playing time this year.

I think you hit the nail on the head. A good coach will run an offense best suited to his team. And to run the offense Pruitt wants you have to have very good talented players. We need an offense that does more with less talented players. We are a very long ways off to competing with bama and ga

We definitely have some problems with effort and execution which haven't been corrected by this coaching staff. We'll have at least 35 to 40 four star or higher rated players on the roster next season time to start showing some progress or were back to searching again.

Your concerns will be compounded when Mizzou looks very pedestrian against another mid-level opponent in its bowl game. The coaches change at UT, but the inability to develop and motivate the players remains.

Vandy and Mizzou didn’t just beat us, they embarrassed us. And there is no way that Vandy, Mizzou or Baylor for that matter have better talent. If you aren’t concerned, you are delusional.

Well you are wrong. Both teams had better players especially at quarterback.

Because Baylor still has some talent and their offense is still pretty dang good (38th nationally I believe). Vandy sucks. If our offense was any count, we would have thrashed Vandy. But we were working with basically all back up OL and Gauranto just isn't the type of QB that can carry an offense on his back.

Our Defense was obviously not great either but that was partly a by product of the offense not being able to get anything going.

I agree that we just weren’t very good, but we still should have showed out better than we did.

The correct answer is that a lot of upperclassmen mailed it in after the Kentucky game. Both teams have D1 athletes, even though there is a huge gap between the talent of the teams. If you mail it in against any D1 team, you'll get your a** handed to you.

Stability, plain and simple. When you have guys running the same system for many years compared to a team constantly changing coaching staff and systems recruiting rankings don’t mean as much
This has alot to do with it. However, no one gets a pass on Vandy. I'm looking forward to seeing continuity, especially w/ S/C program start to pay off. If Pruitt follows Barnes process on culture and expectations, we'll start to see better results in 2019.

Since we are comparing teams, I’ll go a little further...to some degree Vandy, but especially Georgia and Bama have embarrassed us with their dominating OL play and their stellar QB play...isn’t it interesting that one is the byproduct of the other. Anyway, I’m hopeful though that our line play on both sides of the ball will be better in 2019...our success depends on it. GBO!

The guys that are here have to get a lot stronger.. Honor system or whatever trash Butch was doing killed any chance of these guys being SEC quality this season. They got bullied and pushed around. Pruitt is at least going after bigger bodies. Still may take a year or two. Our offense was hot garbage for most of the year also, gave the defense no rest. Next year i expect to see a lot of improvement. If not i'll start having my doubts by year's end that we have our guy. Losses like Vandy sting for a while.

Against Vandy?

This Baylor team is completely devoid of talent. There’s is no way Baylor goes on the road and beats a Top 25 SEC West Team. There is no way Baylor thrashes Kentucky. But yet they are the dominant team over Vandy?

I’m not asking for “because we suck” type of comments, I’m genuinely just lost here. Was this just really a matter of Butch’s leftovers not wanting to play anymore? Did Vandy just have that much of an “on” night against us? Did we get outschemed?

Any football experts that would love to give their two cents would be much appreciated.
Actually, Baylor isn’t devoid of talent they’re just very young. The bottom line on why we’re so bad is because we don’t have good linemen. You can’t compete if you don’t have a good line. We couldn’t stretch the field because our line couldn’t block long enough for a receiver to go deep. We couldn’t run the ball because of a lack of blocking. It isn’t coaching, it’s talent. We haven’t had a really good line in years. We’ve had multiple coaching staffs and it’s crazy to believe none of them knew how to coach offensive lines. People throw out recruiting rankings but overall ranking can be misleading. Our problem isn’t overall talent as much as it is line talent. Until we can match up with teams that have decent lines, we aren’t going anywhere.

Baylor won 1 game last year. Either you credit them with a 1 year turnaround, or you admit that Rhule excels at coaching guys up, scheming, and motivation.

And, anyone who has spent time in Nashville knows Dudley field turns Orange when UT plays there. The Vandy team knows this. They dispise UT, probably as much or more than we do the gaturds. We are their bowl game. And I congratulate them for their success. I want us to play the best & toughest teams in the SEC and NO cupcakes! But our OL won't win anything. I like owning Nov like we used to. It stinks here in the bottom of the barrel. Bring on the Jack & Prozac.........

They had an offense...

Vandy was average on offense and defense.

Baylor has players that fit their system. Mainly QB...and obvioulsy that is something we don't have. I'm specifically saying we didn't have a QB last year...or the year before.
Baylor's QB would work in UT's system. He reads the D and makes quick, good decisions. Vandy couldn't get away with some of the stuff that hurt UT because he burned them by recognizing the hole they left and exploiting it.
