I hope the Bajakian hate is going to die down now

I remember that happening at least once.

It compounds the issue when guys we are asking to help out don't have much experience either. It was Scott's first game so I'm sure the coaches expected some mistakes in his blocking responsibilities.

Yeah as I said it is kinda like pick your poison. How do you want to get beat with max protection and limited routes or with multiple routes and limited protection.

The way the entire offense is blocking at this point I just am not sure if any play is going to work.

What I have learned from this thread?

Last years oline was better than what most on here said last year when they blamed the oline for our struggles on offense. I distinctively remembering how Tiny was "soft" and " hot garbage"

If you say anything negative about the offensive coaching, you're a crybaby who knows nothing about football because you probably never played, have the IQ of a lemur, and want Jones fired immediately

Last year's O-Line had some pretty high expectations and they just didn't deliver. Based on hearing Swain talk about behind-the-scenes stuff, I think Tiny & Friends had some attitude issues rolling over from Dooley's era.

I do think this offensive staff could do a better job in some places, I just don't think it's the playcalling.

The WRs could be playing a bit better and I think Worley could make better decisions in pressure situations/the red zone.

The bottom line is yes the o line is young and short on experience, but the glaring problem is that the coaching staff is doing nothing to address the issue with tweaks to scheming or playcalling. That's what worries me about this staff.

I feel like the staff's approach is to recruit to add depth to this scheme. They preach that it will take time and to be patient because they are NOT going to adjust for the current roster...they are working towards building a roster that will fit the staff needs not the other way around. It is just another way of doing it. If recruiting is a success (as it has been) then the offense does not have to relearn they just add to the knowledge and experience that they have already acquired. Only time will tell on this one.

Not sure what you are saying but my point was even when we try to help the o-line we still get beat. So by keeping in a RB or a TE we limit our options and still get beat so not sure what the staff is to do at this point. It is kinda like pick your poison.

I agree.

Maybe this post will not get deleted.

But no experience.

^ Exactly. As in real life skill + experience = win.

I think some posters are of the ilk that assume a college degree, of any type, automatically means a big money job..

I could hit home runs everyday at the batting cage but it doesnt mean I'm going bang em out of the park against whoever is a good pitcher nowadays.

That's part of my point

Our oline was good last year, yet we still saw the same bad calls on offense

Blamed by many on the oline they called " overrated "

I noticed something. You conveniently ignore things you say and alter them just a bit to make yourself sound correct. You said our line has the same issues last year as they do this year. In this post you completely ignore your previous post and now claim our line is good. Then you say we have had the same bad calls on offense, and it wasn't our o-lines fault. This conveniently ignores that our line is bad this year and now you are assuming the problem is our coaching. I think you have an agenda. I don't like you.

Yea, I've done a pretty crappy job at trying to get my point across

Not saying that at all. I'm just trying to have specific discussion about our struggles. We all agree that the offense is struggling, it's determining what percentage to blame on youth/inexperience versus coaching is where the disconnect is.

And to add: the reason they are so awesome at recruiting is because they are able to show these kids exactly how they fit into the puzzle. It is not just about plucking 4 and 5 star guys its about getting immediate impact players that FIT into the scheme.

Line up five 18 yr old OL gainst five 22 yr old DL of near the same weight, and let's gamble on who wins the battles. Teenagers new into college this fall, vs men in a program for 4 years.
It's a joke that it has to be explained in such elementary terms.

Do you guys believe that with a more experienced line, we will open up the playbook more, or will we continue to see the basic packages we have seen?

I think I have done a poor job

No. You missed the point, as always. Adding a blocking TE, ensuring the RB says back to block, perhaps using an I formation, and countless other ways are tweaks to helping out this horrific offensive line. Thanks for playing and looking stupid again. Always enjoyable and a reminder of what a joke this forum has become is though.

TE can't stop penetration through a B gap. He lines up 2 yds outside of the problem.

The I formation puts the QB under center another step closer to the pursuit.

Any other ideas?

This.

It is mind boggling that some have such a hard time here.

I want to preface this by saying I know we are not the New England Patriots. Their game against KC was the worst I had ever seen Brady perform. He was running for his life amid multiple missed assignments and blitzes. The next week, he had a solid "Tom Brady" game, and it was noted that NE used a double TE set on the OL the entire game, due to inexperience and youth, to help with blocking schemes. Serious question to those that know more than me about this: could this set help our line? Are our 2 or 3 TE's too young to learn it? Is Butch's offense not complimentary to this set? Just curious what others think.

Agreed. People are tired of excuses because we've been rebuilding for a decade, but the reality is our coachig staff is in their second year and have a big mess to clean up.

So did Stoops at UK and they are tied atop the SEC East and one win away from being bowl eligible already. How can they be further along than us? Look at Arky they should have beaten Ala and A'M and played AU even for 3 Qtrs..you can't tell me Arky and UK were in better positions than us two yrs ago..and Miss St is drilling everyone with mostly 2* and 3* players.I'm not down on Butch at all, I think he is doing a great job but the only team that we have looked better than this yr in the SEC is Vandy. We are.aren't gonna beat Ole Miss or Ala so Kentucky, Mizzou and SCe are games we need to win atleast 2 of, which are possible with 2 of those being home games. How we give up 5-6 sacks against Chatt will forever boggle my mind.

I think with a more experienced line we will see a more complex offense than what we are currently seeing.

Reality is Worley has time to make maybe one read when he drops back and if it is not open he is sacked and in the running game the d-line is penetrating so far into our backfield at the snap of the ball there just are not running lanes. I beleive and hope that is why we are seeing so many stretch running plays being run as that is our only hope for positive yardage. JMO

I believe that when all the pieces are in place (not just the OL) that the play book will open up a bit more. But, its quite possible that the staff feels that if there is depth in all positions and an experienced roster then this scheme will work as is.

Do you not immediately see the schedule difference in your UK example?
