Dooley hasn't had a chance to fully implement his system with his recruits. I see steady, albeit slow, progress since he has been the head coach. He's already had to adjust to a new defensive coordinator, dismissing talented players that were thugs and locker room cancers, and severe lack of leadership from the players.
The point I'm trying to make is that we need to understand that UT's football program was going downhill for years before Dooley. How can we expect to be back on top in three short years with the road blocks that have been in the way recently? Now I'm not suggesting that Dooley is the answer to our football prayers-I'm just saying that its unfair to dump all the blame on one guy. If he's gets everything set up his way and the players are all in and we still don't see results then I'll agree that we should pull the plug.

THANK YOU !! A little common sense on this board. Our roster is getting closer, but not yet where it needs to be. Being championship caliber in the SEC is a slow process. I see all the stats about who we have beaten, the SEC records, etc. We are about where our roster has allowed us to be. Nobody is more disappointed in the last few years than I am, but watching 2009, 2010, 2011 unfold, I never was foolish enough to think we would compete for any championships this year.

I think Dooley will be the coach next season also.

(1) I doudt that a top level coach will come to this program now. So, if you can't hire a Hall of Fame coach,
we might as well keep Dooley,until we get the right guy.
Why fire Dooley, and pay the buy out, just to hire the coach at Grambling, East Carolina or Marshall? That would not be an improvement.
If Hart can get the money for the buy out and also get a Hall of Fame hire, then Dooley is gone. If not, then Dooley stays.

(2) I do see improvements in the team from last season vs. this season. We are hanging close to the top #25 teams. We did not fall apart against UNCS. We, at one point, were in the top #25. We are building depth on the team, which we did not have last season.

The improvement is there but just not as fast as we want it to be.

I do not support Dooley but I say we only fire him if we have a Hall of Fame coach waiting to take over immediately....

I agree, I think its important to give CDD a real chance to do great things here. They kids are trying hard and we've had some bad games but the foundation is there. We need to stick together and support our team, our kids, and our coaching staff! GO VOLS

Why does everyone keep saying that he is a great guy? Ask people that work around him at UT and they'll tell you he is a grade A jerk.

I dont care who the coach is next season is going to be rough. We have Oregon on the schedule again and reviving SEC East. That will be difficult to win in no matter who you are.

I've never understood the nice guy argument anyway. I know several people who are nice guys, but I wouldn't want any of them to be the HFC of the Vols.

Why is it that so many of these Dooley guys have low post counts? Sometimes I lean toward believing the rumor about the AD paying message board posters to be sunshine pumpers, as ridiculous as it sounds.

I guess the biggest thing I am tired of is all the bickering. Just like in 08 there was the group that wanted Fulmers head and there was the group that wanted to keep him. You know what they say about opinions and everyone thinks there's is right.

If there's one thing Obama has taught us, change isn't always for the best.

I think it would be more accurate to say he's a good ambassador for the program. Its because most on here have never met the man and he seems likeable in interviews so he must be a great guy.

Kinda like all the people who say they know for a fact what CDD's job status will be beyond this year. They believe CDD should be fired so everyone should to and anyone who disagrees is obviously an idiot.
