I know Cut has really wanted a dual threat QB. But we are in on some good ones for the next class(Pryor, Manuel, Jefferson), though Pryor and Manuel are likely pipe dreams and Jefferson has grade issues. He would be a step up over Curt Phillips though. IDK, it isn't a pressing need and we don't have a ton of schollys available. He definitely isn't a must take.

not a must take, but if he wants to come here, I don't think anyone would turn him down, it definitely would not hurt to have some real competition for Crompton after this season. If UT could ever get a dual-threat QB again with Cutcliffe I think this offense could take off.

Anyone else think Crompton throws his passes really low? In both the Arkansas and LSU game he was throwing at our receivers knees. Probably correctable but makes you wonder why he still does it if it is.

showed flashes of brilliance vs. LSU, and showed nerves of a freshman at Arkansas... all in all, not real sure, but he's got the talent to make it happen for sure.

yea he looked great against LSU and i think that with a whole offseason of knowing he's goin to b the guy at the start of the season will really boost his confidence, and i heard he had enuff of it already

To have your first start in that kind of game though... You should be impressed with the fact that he didn't completely collapse.

o yea about Crompton, how good do yall think he will b?

He looked like a freshman with no experience. I wasn't impressed. Several bad passes. His first td was a good pass, but his second was a fluke. Meach made a great adjustment on a pass well short and behind him.

was not impressed at all by the LSU game, thought he was very, very lucky. Of course, I'd rather be luck than good any day.

It was a hard nosed run . . . which was not the smartest move since the starting QB was already standing on the sideline on crutches.

yeah...although I loved it...I was thinking we might get a taste of Bo Hardagree if he keeps this up.

I know we've had success with both types of QBs (drop-back and dual-threat), but the team overall seems to be more physical with a dual-threat QB - even the defense (but maybe that's just my perception). Tony Robinson, Heath, Tee, maybe even Schaeffer - seems we're at our best when we're running and using play-action.

I guess you blocked out those years with Peyton Manning.
