I have to. (Missouri rant)

"Every year"? The last two they've done well. But can you substantiate "every year"?

They "develop" DL's for the most part. Many take a RS. When they lose guys then their typical recruit isn't going to just step in and play on raw talent like say Butcher or Phillips would.

Well they just added the highest rated defensive lineman this year (Terry Beckner Jr.) so....

Also, since 2001 they've had 10 defensive linemen drafted. Michael Sam, Sheldon Richardson, Aldon Smith, Kony Ealy, Ziggy Hood, CJ Mosely just to name a few. Don't forget Shane Ray this past year either. Guy was a beast.

This thread is hilarious. We just won our first bowl game since the 2007 season, yet we're going to talk smack to a team who won the division the last two years. And I'll add a team we're winless against.

I agree. They can't wait to rip Mizzou. All they've done is won the East the last two years.

When was the last time we could say the same about UT?

Accept it that they've been better. Far and away better. Hopefully that will start to change this season.

I seem to remember winning the East about 6 months prior to running our HC outta town on a rail..

Any way you slice it we gotta beat the man to be the man and that means beating either Georiga or Mizzou and taking out Carolina or Florida also while taking care of business against KY and Vandy. As we have seen the last few years, you gotta beat a combo while you can drop a couple, you can't lose to Florida, Georiga and Mizzou or Carolina Florida and Georgia or any combo of the two or three... If we take down Florida, Carolina and Mizzou and avoid an upset vs KY and Vandy we win the East. Then we can tell them to crawl back to there non Natty Championshop state and school and go back to being happy to finish in the top half of their division in football has their history shows. We do that this year and recruiting takes an uptick for this year and we get another top 10-15 class retain most of our talent and really push for an SEC title in 16 as I finally think the cycle has caught Bama and the West.

IMO whatever is written here on this site - the HISTORY of the SEC will forever show MIZZOU won the East. Nothing will ever take that away - now we have to win the East a few more times and put our names back in the history books. By any hook or crook - win the East, win in Atlanta, and write some more VOL history.

He deserved to go. The people that made the hires afterward deserved to go as well.

Screwing up one doesn't invalidate the other.

Well I wish you guys coulda convinced Nick Sabans schools to get him fired when he lost to UAB and Louisiana Monroe right before getting them NC's at LSU and Alabama.

Saban lost those on the way up... Fulmer was trending down and you know it. Anyone that watched football knows it. Deny it all you want. He let his biggest rivals pass him by. Georgia to a lesser degree and Bama and Florida were light years ahead of him.

Not sure I follow you since the Vols scored 48 pts and had 585 in total O. Even before the end of regulation, they scored 28 with around 480 in O.

The D is what failed in that game.

Poor clock management at the end, not trying to move the ball down field and trying to create something, instead of just running out the clock.

The D allowed too many points and couldn't stop MU when it counted (or pretty much at all for much of the game). Dooley made a bunch of mistakes but by far the biggest one was letting Sunseri get any closer to UT football than the visitors sideline. That was the worst D in the modern era and possibly in UT history. It allowed 428 pts in 12 games. Second worst was 2007 when they allowed 382 in 14 games. Per game, it is by far the worst D performance in UT history. That season sank and Dooley along with it because the D was so horrible. If the D does its job then time management would have been an issue.

A very, very, very bad MU team won that game.

I acknowledged they've had some recent success with a DC that is now gone. Those names do not prove your generalization that depicts them as some kind of "DL U".

If you can't prove it then there's nothing wrong with admitting you got ahead of yourself and overstated.

I have a tough time looking past the Florida game myself. I love Butch and Co but if they haven't at least glanced at that film in the offseason they're doing it wrong. It's the most important game on our schedule this year imo and will have a big influence on the rest of the season. I can't even pick us to beat them right now even tho the odds are highly in our favor. Bottom line is we can't beat Florida until we beat them.

And btw, like it or not Mizzou has earned every bit of success they've had in the SEC. It's time for ppl to stop treating them like the underdog and maybe take the Ln as a serious contender. Maybe, just maybe, they'll start to lose then.

I would hate on Missouri but Alabama leaves my tank empty. Anyway, Missouri is like the plucky little team that does more with less.

I hear what you're saying. But I will add that no matter how much we continue to improve as a program, MIzzou will almost always be a tough game.

They have a very underrated talent base to recruit from.
St Louis, and Kansas City produce good talent. Mizzou is now starting to recruit Indianapolis as well. And of course they do very well in Texas.

Also they are starting to get some talent from Georgia and Middle Tennessee which as we know is fertile recruiting ground.

I'm glad Mizzou is in the SEC. They bring a different culture to the conference.

Truthfully I like Mizzu and U really like people. Its like when thr new kid comes in and everyone likes him and messes up everything you and your friends have accomplished lol.
I think they'll always be solid, but when UT and Florida come back I dont see them winning the East in turn like the other 3 have all these years.
At least our division got them and not a&m.

PS- I think they dropped Illinois when they moved to the SEC because they feared it would make their schedule too tough....

Nope, not even close.

After completing 8yrs of futility, Illinois decided to end the annual game after going 0-8 against Missouri.

We'd love to have them back on our schedule.
