I Have Decided To Speak

.
Therefore, I will make my feelings known on Saturday with four empty seats in section D. . . .just bare, silent aluminum bleachers......, and this is the only way that I know to show it.

Just what we need, less wide loads in the stands.

Figuring roughly 70K at the game = 30000+ empty seats. Multiply by two drinks and dogs ($15) = $450000. . . .for one game. Suddenly, over time, a contract buyout and a high-dollar coach doesn't seem like such a ridiculous sum of money. This doesn't even account for merchandise. I don't have any way to quantify how much money is being lost right now, but I'm sure that Hounddogs, McMillian's, Tennessee Traditions, et al are feeling the crunch.

The value of "empty seats" has immeasurables, as well. The University doesn't want to see its partially-renovated stadium 1/4 empty, which is about what I expect Saturday.

It's painful to miss out on one of my few guilty pleasures, but I'm willing to endure a little bit more than some in hope of greener pastures. Nothing makes me sicker than the loser-mentality of "who you gonna get" or "just wait until Fulmer's gone."

My point is that, like Alabama in the "lean years," we know what championship-caliber football is all about, and I'm willing to do my part to get there again.

If we don't take action now,
We'll settle for nothing later

so what was the row and seat numbers again?

My ticket that I paid the athletic department for will be up for sale by the athletic department because I am not going to pick it up. I'm sure they will sell it within seconds!

Northern Illinois Student Football purchaser:

According to our records, you purchased a Northern Illinois student football ticket for this weekend’s game and have not picked it up. They are available in the Office of the Dean of Students, located at 413 Student Services Building, behind Circle Park. You will need your student id to pick it up. If you do not get it by 5 pm tomorrow (Friday) afternoon, you forfeit the ticket.

I'm not sure how that is even legal if I am the purchaser of the ticket, but whatever. Someone else can feed the beast this week. I have reasons for not being at the game other than the spectacular start to the season, but they already have my $90, so if they want to sell my ticket then they can choke on it. On the other hand, I hope someone who can and wants to be there will get that ticket and see a coming out party for the offense. I can dream....

Very well put, I try to make @ least 2 home games a year and the Athens game but not this year, wow the wasted talent,It still turns my stomach..............

Interesting avatar, since Majors
was 4/12 vs Bama and lost 7 in
a row before he found his way
out of Knoxville.

You probably could have said that better by posting a Dilbert cartoon.

How right you are!!!

For once in your short life.

I thought his avatar was a Dilbert cartoon...

That's interesting, since we have already
established you don't know Jack anyway.

Good move, Kiddiedoc. The only vote we have is with our money and showing up for the game, and when it starts to hit them in the wallet and they visually see the empty seats, they finally will get it.

I am interested to see what happens with the next phase of the stadium expansion. It is currently over budget and they have by October 15th to make the decision to proceed or shelf it. I imagine it is hard for them to go to boosters right now asking for more money.

Thats a admiral thing to do kiddiedoc. If only the sheep could follow suit we'd be well on our way to fixing this mess. If you buy the ppv it means you like whats happening on the hill. Drink alot, listen to exciting bob. Watch other teams that know how to execute and perform basic fundamentals.

. . . .Without words.

The past few weeks in Knoxville have been filled with frustration, bullheadedness, finger-pointing, arguing, lame excuses, false promises, and (worst of all) apathy amongst the Vol Faithful. However, it is quite unreasonable for me to believe that my name on some internet petition, a huffy e-mail to MH, or trying to squeeze a phone call into Vol Calls between the blind sheep will effect change.

Therefore, I will make my feelings known on Saturday with four empty seats in section D. There will be no boos, taunts, bird-flipping, or objects thrown. But, there will also be no cheering, orange-and-white shakers, or overpriced concession consumption. . . .just bare, silent aluminum bleachers.

Not to sound too melodramatic, but this has been a very difficult decision for me. I would be lying if I said that UT football wasn't part of the reason I chose to move back to the Knoxville area to start my practice. I haven't missed a home game since my return, and my tailgate preparation lasts from Thursday night until Sunday. I used to drive up from Florida at least once a fall and have visited many of the other SEC stadiums in support of the Vols. I have a Tennessee Orange exam room, boat, pool table, bathroom, and boxers. To say that I'm anything but a true fan approaches insulting my family.

I'm all Vol, but I'm also sick of mediocrity, and this is the only way that I know to show it.

I commend you. It will hopefully all be over soon and we can actually get back to enjoying Tennessee Football.

Cool.. D Section... 4 seats

I may look for them and sit there... They're A LOT Better than the seats I have

:lolabove: I actually laughed....

I think going or not going doesn't make a difference if they get rid of Fulmer or not. The only hope we have of ridding Fulmer from the HC position is this year's losing season.

But who they replace him with scares me too.... I just hope the UT Admins don't try to stick a UT Alumni in there just for that reason.

That's great and fine, do what you think you have to do. I will be at the games, I am a vol fan that bleeds orange no matter how bad we get. If we didn't win one game, I still would support my team.

If I had a kiddie, I would take him/her to you. You seem to have a finger on the pluse of the situation. Money talks.
