. . . .Without words.

The past few weeks in Knoxville have been filled with frustration, bullheadedness, finger-pointing, arguing, lame excuses, false promises, and (worst of all) apathy amongst the Vol Faithful. However, it is quite unreasonable for me to believe that my name on some internet petition, a huffy e-mail to MH, or trying to squeeze a phone call into Vol Calls between the blind sheep will effect change.

Therefore, I will make my feelings known on Saturday with four empty seats in section D. There will be no boos, taunts, bird-flipping, or objects thrown. But, there will also be no cheering, orange-and-white shakers, or overpriced concession consumption. . . .just bare, silent aluminum bleachers.

Not to sound too melodramatic, but this has been a very difficult decision for me. I would be lying if I said that UT football wasn't part of the reason I chose to move back to the Knoxville area to start my practice. I haven't missed a home game since my return, and my tailgate preparation lasts from Thursday night until Sunday. I used to drive up from Florida at least once a fall and have visited many of the other SEC stadiums in support of the Vols. I have a Tennessee Orange exam room, boat, pool table, bathroom, and boxers. To say that I'm anything but a true fan approaches insulting my family.

I'm all Vol, but I'm also sick of mediocrity, and this is the only way that I know to show it.

Very well put. I'm not sure I could do this, but I agree it makes more sense and signals personal responsibility as a VOL FAN than some of the other action I have seen proposed and obviously engaged in. GO VOLS!

I don't blame you Doc. I was talking with my UGA grad neighbor today and he said he saw an old UT work buddy the other day. His UT friend told him he had made the trip to UCLA and has since sold his season tickets for the remaining games. I think when football revenues are reflected eventually Fulmer and Hamilton and Peterson not only are upsetting the fans (true fans) but ultimately taking the scholarship money away from other sports at UT. I have not bought tickets, even turned down free tickets from boosters and will continue to do so until change is made.

Good Decision KD! I had tickets to the Bama game but the guy with the tickets is doing the same as you and I support him in that decision

:hi:That was very tasteful. It is refreshing to find a Negavol with some class. Your anti-Vol response is respectable and will do more to get your point across than all the saber-clashing and egoinflating professorial buffoonery exhibited by others.

Yes, I still want the Vols to win and yes I will be cheering all day Saturday while we whip NIU's rosy red.:dance2:

I'll bet my favorite "Tennessee Crying-towl" that you be in front of the Radio of Pay Per View every minute on Saturday listening to or watching the team you love.

I'm with you Doc,its just unfortunate that empty seats might be the only way to get the decision makers to end this misery.

I understand the sentiment, Doc, but I hardly think empty seats against NIU is gonna do much good.

The loss of concessions revenue alone will be noticed. By the way, you folks going to the game try to buy as little stuff as possible from the concessionaires. Also LIO a whole bunch of empty seats will be noticed by administration and high dollar boosters.

That is a great deed that you are doing. Attending the games is the worst thing that one can now do. It shows support for the Good Ole' Boy network. A big cheer for you not being a Foolmer Fool. Cudos.

Boycotting the UGA game just makes better sense to me. It will be on national television and will be watched by more than just Vol / NIU fans.

Yeah, that'll be a lot easier to do since the game is in Athens. However, boycotting the Bama game would be nuclear in the cajones department.

Well Said. I've been sayin the same. If Fulmer can't bring the money to Neyland to buy popcorn, then Hamilton will be forced to bring in someone who can......
