I hate UT fans...

I hate to say this but it is hard for me to get excited about baseball for win or loss. There are too many games and there are clearly off-games where you don't play your starters (I imagine this Tennessee Tech game was one of them). This leads to skewed results.

At least the tournament isn't a one-and-done like March Madness were you pay for it with the off games.

Proud of the Baseball team. This loss is pretty meaningless in the scheme of things. The key is whether we can get to Omaha or not.

What was it Coach Majors used to say? Something to the effect "it's better for people to think you're ignorant than to open your mouth and prove 'em correct."

Back in the day, Coach Majors called us UT fans "the legion of the miserable" (or something like that), and that was before we even had message boards.

Message boards are great for giving you contact with the only people on earth who understand you, right at the moment you are feeling UT pain. The downside is that everything you say is permanent.

Go Vols, beat Bama!

I just looked through the TTU game thread and scrolled through some post-game #VolTwitter again and I really don't see anything too bad. It's all pretty mild "losing sucks" posts, but I don't see many (if any) tantrums, so I'm not sure if this thread was really warranted. UT fans are no different than any other fanbase in their passion for winning and losing, so I don't know why you'd "hate Tennessee fans".

This is why I tell parents to be very careful of getting on here, especially on Game days. During the off-season and fall you have the knowledgeable people who can talk about baseball but when season starts and especially if we have a little success and drive bus who have no clue about these players, coaches, or what it takes to win games. Part of a fan base but not the fun part. Hard to stay focused every game and as I have always said one hot pitcher can shut down a very good team at any level.

I am 51 years old and have been a UT fan all my life. But some of our fans truly annoy the sh*t out of me. We lost a meaningless midweek game and some of these jock sniffers who probably never played sports a day in their life are throwing tantrums. I don't normally do this, but I'm going to address some of the ridiculous crap I have seen tonight.

1. We shouldn't have played at Smokies Stadium - BS! 8K fans got to see the Vols play. Go ask the players if they enjoyed the environment. Think about the exposure UT baseball got from that game. Teams play games at neutral sites all the time. Vanderbilt recently played Lipscomp at the Sounds stadium in Nashville. It's baseball. Guess what? The rubber is still 60'6" from home plate. Home plate is still 17" wide. The base paths are still 90'.

2. We shouldn't have used wood bats - guess what? Tech played with wood bats too! And a lot of college players play in wood bat summer leagues every year. Wood bats didn't cost us the game. They impacted both teams. There was only one homerun the whole game, and it was hit off the guy who throws over 100mph.

3. We blew our #1 ranking - not likely if we take care of business this weekend. Midweek games are mostly meaningless, and baseball is a long season. Voters know that.

UT was always going to lose some games. They will likely lose more. As easy as they have been making it look, baseball is a hard game. I really wish our fans could just enjoy the incredible season this time is putting together, instead of whining about ridiculous crap. Sorry.

Rant over.
Agree 100%, Tennessee Baseball played down to Mizzou's level this weekend and something like this may give them a kick in the butt to don't take anyone for granted. I'm ready for Friday night.....see you there!!

The biggest issue I have with this loss is my son is a TT alum and he just had to rub it in. Otherwise hopefully the team learns from this and takes care of business all the way through Omaha.

Don't know why, but I was really worried about that game. DANG, my concerns were legit. 8,000 UT Fans getting to see the Vols; many for the first time? And an L ? Just can't make this stuff up.

Some will just have to learn that, I'll scream it again, it's baseball.

World Series champs were sub 500 before August. They lost by double digits two nights ago and won by double digits last night. To the same team!

TTU hit dribbler singles to third, we hit them hard right to SS. It happens.

BaseVols #1 team in college. Unanimous.

For the record I was disappointed, but not bent out-of-shape at all. It’s baseball. I’m not sure how talented their pitcher was, but certainly he was the smartest player on the field last night. He just kept spinning curve balls, most down and out of the zone, and we kept swinging. He threw just enough strikes to make his plan effective. Kudos to a guy who handcuffed us with a great plan he executed to a “T”. Learn and grow. Move on.
You can bet the plan will be seen again going forward.

To be fair, he wasn’t referring to ALL UT fans. Just those who fit the description.
