I don't post very often and I'm a man of few words(until now). As I read all these posts about firing Fulmer, problems with our team, who's the best candidate for our new coach, ad nauseum, blah, blah, blah,.......

All I know is that after following TN football for half a century(that's 50 years for the folks from Cocke, Claiborne and Roane counties) is that when it's time to play GA, AL,SC, and whoever the Vols are playing this year, at that point in time, I'm excited again. I've seen too much over the years not to be excited.

Tn Football is like life my young friends, it's a cycle, and the sooner you accept that fact, the sooner you can get on with your life. TN will be back, we always have and we always will. Those of you that don't believe that, don't know crap about TN football.

i agree with you on the cycling thing....i just think this cycle has run it's course.

and i do think most of us agree that we will be back, but when we get there, it will have to be under new leadership.

That's what I mean Jake, we're beginning a new cycle.

a cycle, well how long does a cycle take to run it's course we've been a mediocre football program for 5 yrs now, this is not just because of this year our program has been on the decline for a while, the problem is no one wanted to admit it. just look at our record against top 25, bowl games, ga, fla, ala, lsu, au it's pathetic the only reason fulmer has been here as long as he has is 98 after that season he hasn't done squat. I know I know he was 1 win away from playing miami in 01, and we got au in 04, well let's look at 04 we were a very young team that year and a surprise to even get to the championship game, so everyone assumed we were going to be loaded for the next few years well these are the next few years and we all know what happened in 05, last year was a little better but still not up to ut standards, and this year is GOING TO BE WORSE THAN 05. So the only cycle that needs to end is the cycle with fulmer, cutcliffe, and chavis as coaches at the university of tennessee, because enough is enough

All teams are cyclical even if they lie within varying ranges of bad to great. Duke is always bad, but they are in a range from horrible to somewhat pathetic. I don't think anyone argues that this is a cycle....

HOWEVER, what causes the upswing or downswing in the norm is what the argument is all about. TN fans want an upswing, but most are trying to say that the upswing will be due to a new coaching staff, not some miraculous sinusoidal swing in wins.

Explain new cycle for me.
The fans have finally had enough, Bowden Wyatt, Bill Battle, Johnny Majors, take your pick. We are finally at the point where the fans have taken the time to really look at the situation, the stats, the facts and we're pissed.

I have no doubt we will be back. We just don't want it to be another 5-10 years of the same crap we saw Saturday.

This is exactly why I hate to post, all I'm saying is that the new cycle is beginning and at the end of this year(or the next) Fulmer is probably gone. However, if by some miracle, Fulmer wins out, all you "know it alls" will be singing his praises.

I think it's quiete obvious to everyone that it's the beggining of the end of Fulmers tenture. I can tell it in Fulmers face. I think he truly knows it's almost over for him. He's a great guy, and I will never forget what he did for us in the 90s, but the game has passed him by. Bobby Bowden can be included in this also.
