gotta agree. They kept teasing me with UT in HD and then forced me to run back to my laptop.

i felt the same way, though the Davidson/G'Town game did warrant sticking with it....when Davidson was down 17, not so much.........

Their announcers were so ANTI- UT that it made me want to puke. I was sick of them after the first 5 minutes.

i'm really tired of this theory... As a non-UT basketball fan, watching the game I couldn't notice any bias for either team. They highlighted the good players, bragged about Pearl and let the players have it when they put up stupid shots. Tennessee, IMO, put up a lot of stupid shots, so it got brought up.

It was never in HD here. On the HD channels yes, but a low-def feed. (When it was on at all)

My favorite quote of the game referring to B. Williams, "Thats what happens when you lay off the cheeseburgers"

This deserves it's own thread:

I have been critical of B-dubs play to this point...But he played like a man on the inside and pulled down a couple of rebounds with force....solid game for the big boy.

that happens every single year. The best players get talked about. We had the same phenomenon happen with Peyton. When someone puts up the numbers Tebow did, he's going to get mentioned again and again and again. As someone pointed out somewhere, maybe in this thread even, announcers are their to talk about the relevant stories. Pearl is a relevant story and that's why you see and hear him from EVERYWHERE. Tennessee football on the other hand, doesn't have a whole lot of nationally relevant stories these days.

My understanding is that WVLT has the option to show whatever they want. If UT is playing that's why we always get the UT game. I don't think CBS has anything to do with which games are being shown. CBS just broadcasts each individual game.

WVLT could show Andy Griffith if they wanted to, but they chose UT v. Butler. Just because the national station is broadcasting a game does NOT mean that the local affiliate must show that game.

I could be totally wrong but that's my understanding.

it's sort of complicated to explain. CBS has the overall decision on what to show. Local channels can have leverage as long as CBS corporate agrees to the terms. Take for example the 6 o'clock news. If for whatever reason they start three minutes late, the WVLT station must cut 3 minutes off their program. the 6:30 national news can not be interrupted. It must start on time and must continue through until it's over. I hope that makes sense. I remember at my CBS station, they picked our games and that's what we got. We had no say in the matter. We could just plug in our own commercials.

Verne is a crotch pheasant. And once he starts gobblin' don't get in his way.

This past football season, no matter who was playing (non-Florida) games, all he did was gobble Tebow.

I don't think he is necessarily anti-TN, but I wouldn't like it even he started gobbling UT.

Well at least we don't have Vitale calling games. CBS wanted Vitale and Jay Bilas to do color commentary for the tourney. Fornuately ESPN would not allow Vitale.:clapping:
