This is not a good comparison, CM never had the level of talent of a SEC team. I heard on XM Radio (Ch 91), players win games, and CM, at that time, was not the team CBJ had when they started winning............bad post IMHO.

Go Vols!

Once upon a time George Seifert was a failure as a HC (Dartmouth). Yadayadayada...he took over Bill Walsh's loaded Niners team and they won two Super Bowls under him. Unrelated? Sure...so is this whole thread. :shades:

If you really do hate being "a pessimistic" you could probably find a story concerning Michigan's 52-11 record while he was their OC or about the improvement in Brian Griese during his first year as OC in '97 when they won the national championship or the improvement in Tom Brady from '98 to '99. What would be fun about that though, right? :thud:

All I'm saying is that Butch was DeBords OC/running coach.
The article said that their previous year, the running was terrible.
The question is, how much of the offense was mostly Butch's playbook at CMU? Or did he just help out the running game and let DeBord do the actual play calling,
My biggest fear is that they'll get in a routine similar to how they called plays back at CMU but it's just that Butch is HC and DeBord is "OC".

Wow. Whatever the opposite of logic is, you have found it.

Wouldn't Central Michigan's teams from 2007-2009 be more pertinent for comparison since Butch was head coach in both instances? CMU won 8, 8, and 11 games in those seasons.

Actually, trying to make any comparisons between Butch/Debord's Central Michigan teams and Butch's UT teams is absurd. We currently have totally different (and much more talented) players playing with a different set of coaches in a totally different league.

I kind of like this thread. You can't argue with the FACTS laid out in the post, because, really, what facts? Nice picture of Mike in the flyer.

Dougie,
From reading your posts I've come to the conclusion that you not only LOVE pessimism, but that it would take quite a bit of filing to get your glass up to the point of half-empty.

Get to a Zig Ziglar convention asap and buy the overpriced tapes before the season starts.

That LA Monroe game was epic. Saban's presser compared it to Pearl Harbor. Sounded stupid at the time. In hindsight, he was right. Gosh it hurts to say that.
