I had a dark thought this morning

How many more threads are you gonna discuss this in? And was it a dark thought you had on your own, or an idea you heard from Dave Hooker, like you said in the other thread?

Bottom line, in the big scheme of things, losing these three players wil hardly be a blip on the radar.

Kelly apparently didn’t leave himself much of a choice because of school work. Either way he’s a RB who will get drafted. No reason to stick around

Gaulden balled out this year. If he does well at the combine I wouldn’t be shocked to see him go on the 3rd. His stats this year were crazy good as far as coverage is concerned.

McKenzie I’m sure heard from his dad what his chances are of being drafted and made a decision.

None of this is on Pruitt.

Absolutely.

Pruitt is going to demand hard work and toughness... Either Shat or get off the pot. Community Service projects can wait

Somebody talk me out of it.

If Pruitt is full time these last three weeks and working on making connections with the team, we don't lose all these underclassmen to the NFL draft.

I don't think so. There were several new coaches available during the dead period to make connections. I think Gaulden would have declared either way. I think MacKenzie didn't feel 1 year in the 3-4 would improve his stock, in fact it might draw more double teams. Kelly coming out seems odd. He didn't have Kamara like highlights and I thought another year would get him into the middle rounds. But when I saw Pruitt was looking to add another RB after Banks? I just felt he already knew Kelly was declaring.

If he is hard-nosed like I hope he is, I expect to lose more. Sad, undeveloped talent has to test the pro waters, but it may be an attractive option to having to actually work hard without pay.

I bet your right! I bet he wanted his best players to leave the team!

He's just a Bamer trying to finish off our program!

could be the dumbest thing I have ever read. Do you really think he would sabotage his career for some conspiracy theory?

From the kids'point of view : if you thought you could get drafted, why stick around for a program reboot.

From CJP point of view : why risk dealing with players who are possibly severely affected by Butch Jone's mouth vomit poison. Just let them go and start over.

It's a win win if you ask me. Yeah Kelley and Gaulden were great but how great are they when they are reprogrammed?

Them guys were leaving regardless of CJP being here or not.
Kelly is REALLY good friends with Kamara and has been given decent advice that he will do okay by getting paid.
McKenzie was leaving no matter who the coach was...he was never going to be a 4 year guy.
Gaulden - I just don't think Gaulden was ever going to fit into Pruitt's / Sherrer's system, so he might as well move on and try to get paid.

I think Gaulden wouldve been perfect in Pruitt's system. Gaulden and Kelly both have decent tape and both will test well at the combine. DBs have a decent shelf life in the NFL as well so Gaulden possibly could get paid a few years then get another contract. McKenzie has some injury history, limited good tape IMO, and I dont see him blowing up at the combine. I'd be surprised if he gets drafted before the fifth but I hope I'm wrong.

I wish all of them the best of luck and I hope they represent Tennessee well at the next level and get paid.

OP usually the program does inquiries about where a player projects with NFL scouts. I'm sure Kelly, Gaulden, and Mckenzie all had those reports and I'm sure Pruitt likely wouldnt have been able to change their minds as well.

No. Gaulden was thought of as a decent prospect all year. He makes a lot of plays. JK is a rb and they have short shelf lives. He has good knees still and runs hard. Khalil shocks me, but his daddy works in the NFL so . . . He will probably be fine.

My projections though. Gaulden late 6 or 7 round. JK and KMac will go undrafted, but will get a look as FA.

I think once practice starts in the spring, you will see more defections from Butch's team. CJP won't cash every check that CBJ wrote.

Edit: that is a metaphor in case you are wondering.
