I guess it's safe to say this board will have a huge meltdown should UT lose.

The overconfidence that some here have going into a game against a really solid football team is quite funny.

FWIW - I think VT wins due to the special teams...UT's is horrid. Oh, and Foster vs. Crompton is a big mismatch too, imo in favor of VT. Close game but VT wins 24-20. Not too mention I believe all of the turmoil recently WILL have an effect on the team.

Oh, and it looks like John Chavis is heading to UGA as DC according to many on their board.

Wow, have you ever heard of positivity? Rod Wilks will save the day.

I don't see any meltdowns in our future. Everybody recognizes that Va Tech is good and that we are still a year or two away.

UT just can't go into this game overconfident or it'll be Peach Bowl 2002/2003 Part 3. Ryan Williams is the best RB outside of Ingram that UT has faced all season....it's going to take four quarters to win this game.

Ditto. I like our chances but will not be upset with a loss. VT is a good team.

only once all year did it appear that CLK didn't have the boys ready to compete (Ole Miss) but every other game we had a fighting chance. i expect nothing less come the 31st. the days of being completely knocked in the jaw are over my friends.

VT is a good team, but from what i have seen they havn't played the level of talent that we have(minus Bama). We even played Bama better than Tech did. We have to play well and not give up the big play and we SHOULD come out with a win. A loss would suck, but at least this year we have a chance to play in a bowl game. :)

how much truth is in Chavis leaving LSU. I thought he said he wouldnt leave LSU unless it was for a HC job?

plus the Chief isn't a fan of aggressive recruiting. the peach state should be fair game if true

But it's the best guy possible to keep Garner in Athens since the two are good friends...so Garner keeps bringing in that talent. Chavis runs circles around Martinez. That much is for sure.

I do not think many will be disappointed if we lose respectfully. I expect it ot be a close game. I am sure everyone is pumped and they have every reason to be excited about this game and our future. I believe you are letting the dead gator fumes bother you a little too much and reading too much into these posts.

I hope you are right regarding Senior Taco!

Of course, if we lose, the sky will fall! :)

The Bulldogs can have 3rd and Chavis and send Garner to us

I think the best RB we face so far was Dexter Mccluster from Ole Miss, he made us look stupid and beat us on his own. Still think there's no way VT beats us. Not even close. UT 27 VT 13

I think Tennessee's defense is good enough to stop Ryan Williams and make Taylor beat us, which we know won't happen.

Williams is just as good as him, imo. To say it won't be close is laughable. You realize UT finished at 7-5, correct? This team is a work in progress. You clearly haven't seen much of Ryan Williams.

I think VT walks in this one pretty easily. Our still suspect OL won't be able to handle the various blitz schemes and Crompton will be under pressure all night.

Im thinking 31-13 VT.

I'll be really surprised if the Vols don't play very well. Can we bet beaten by VT, of course, but most of us Big Orange fans don't see it happening. Why? For one, both teams that creamed the ACC conference champions just before their playoff game, neither of which were VT, were soundly beaten by us. If the ACC's best couldn't beat the SEC teams we did beat, then VT should be beaten by us as well. Besides, Dexter McCluster doesn't play for VT and he's about the only team we couldn't stop this season. Was there anybody else playing for Ole Miss the day team Dexter clocked us? Other than that and the UCLA game we've played well all year so VT is probably in for a problem with us.

If the Vols lose this game, there will be at least one thread on here calling for CLK's head and at least one thread on here telling us about how the previous coaching staff would have had a better plan. Mark it!

I was under the impression that one of the reasons that Garner left was because he and Chief didn't get along. Chief has never liked anyone that recruits well because it shines a bright light on his own ineptness in that department. I know it's happened with at least one other person, but I could be wrong about that being an issue between Garner and Chavis.
