1) If UGA coaches coached players to "chop block", which many of you don't have any idea what that means, there would be lots of penalties and lots of teams screaming about it. Only UT does and it's totally unfounded, just sour grapes. You've been abused for so long it's all you have left. 2) I'm guessing that you've never stepped on a football field with pads on. It's a very fast game and LOS can be chaotic places. You sometimes block whoever you can however you can.. Sometimes you're getting blocked while you're engaged with another player. Sometimes you're coming off the turf to make a block. If blocking below the waist was a penalty, a flag would be thrown every play. Players have thigh pads for a reason.The real thing that should happen, in the interest of player safety and longevity. Blocking below the waist should be banned, period. All kinds of rules to protect offensive players, unnecessary roughness, targeting, defenseless receiver, etc. Yet we allow linemen and running backs to directly attack the knees. How many careers have been ruined due to those blocks.
