I have a funny feeling about this year.

If we play well against UCLA I think we go 10-2 or 11-1.
We will upset someone. It will either be FL or AL.

I also believe GA is staring a losing season right in the face. maybe a .500 season. They might only have 1 win coming in to Knoxville. They will beat ASU probably but other than them I think the Chickens and Hogs will beat them and I think we all agree LSU will beat them. So there 2nd win may come against VANDY.

GBO! Beat UCLA 1st and then lets go get us some Gators!

There's only a couple of things that are going to make me happy this college football season. Watching Georgia have a losing season would be one of them. :good!:

Both, and I know the feeling. It's what makes Fall my favorite time of year.

8-4, 9-3 is realistic. florida and bama are going to be by far our toughest games. ole miss will b tough as well, altho after seeing them against memphis i think we can win, but its at their field so it'll b tough

Fulmer has always stumbled his way to a 9 win season, except for the years right after cutcliffe left. These coaches seem to have a much better idea of how to put together a game plan . I know we have only played one game , but I can't recall any of Fulmers teams that were that well prepared in any game much less the first game of the year. Normally we would all have been content with 21 to 14 win versus WK. I too feel that this team will surprise some people. After Saturday we will ALL be able to judge where this team is headed. I predicted 9-3 , but if our team is focused every game , I think we have a GOOD Chance to beat ANYONE. Yes, even the gators.

I haven't thought that Bama, UF, or Ole Miss were lost causes from the start. I'm not predicting wins but that CLK seems to have them playing with te type of discipline and intensity that enables good teams to beat better teams.

Everyone is focused on the talent gap. It is there and it is most apparent in depth. But you only put 11 out there at a time. Those 11 fight their own individual and unit battles on every play. A coach that puts his players in a position to be successful can often be the difference between a good player beating a better player or vice versa.

During the early years of the Civil War, Stonewall Jackson was always outnumbered and often more than 2:1. He never had an artillery advantage. He violated virtually all of von Clauswitz's rules of warfare on one occasion or another.... but the guy didn't lose. He always found a way to make the Union fight the battle on his terms and in ways that favored his strengths.

Bottom line: Coaching is more of a factor than many Vol fans are acknowledging. I know that UF is coached well so this isn't a claim that they aren't. But good coaches can be outcoached... for heaven's sake, this is the same group of coaches that were outcoached by Houston Nutt and company last year. It can definitely be done by inferior coaches... why not by the elite group UT has assembled?

8-4 would be fantastic. Anything over that would be just amazing.

What is great about our staff is that they expect to win and win big EVERY SINGLE GAME. High expectations and they really know how to get a team there.

I could not agree with you anymore. Everybody has talent in the SEC and around the NCAA. The edge comes down to coaching.

This is my first post here so hi everyone and...

I have to agree with sjt18 especially on 2 counts.

1. The "big 3" on our schedule are not lost causes. The difference with this team from last years is the mindset that "we are here to win, and that's the only reason we're here". It felt weird the last few years of the Fulmer regime...it didn't have a victory spirit about it, even before the games, let alone after the losses.

2. Coaching is a HUGE factor. I like Lane, he seems to be doing fine, but this thing is gonna rock and roll because of the STAFF, Coach O and his drive being a key component. IMO, if this staff got wind that a number of players (even if it were Crompton, Brown, and Jones) felt we couldn't win going into a game, then they would sit them.

Also, this staff actually MAKES ADJUSTMENTS during the game and at halftime. How many times was I screaming at the TV in the 2nd half of a Fulmer/Chavis game because no adjustment was made on easily seen holes in the gameplan...

I think we win fairly big against UCLA. We are at 8.6 yards per play and they are at 5.2 ypp, both against sub-standard opponents. Our secondary shouldn't give up as many big plays as theirs AND we will be more pumped than them (Imagine Coach O pumping up Tennessee vs. Chow or Neuheisel pumping up the ucclaw beer roosters).

Again, that's just my opinion and it's my first post so go easy on me...

....for GA to beat LSU all theyd have to do is take 2 knees and then get into a 3rd down and Chavis will let them convert every time....

I agree with many of the posters on here that have been frustrated over the past 10 years with what seemed like lets try not to lose. With this staff, I see we can WIN them all. GO VOLS!!
