This wasn't about a singular event. This wasn't only about Schiano and Penn State.

It was about Kiffin. It was about Dooley. It was about Jones.

But, it was also about Pearl, Cuonzo and Tyndall.

It was about Delmonico, Raleigh and Serrano.

It was about the tragic end of the Pat Summit era and watching that program slowly be just another SEC team under Holly. A good team for sure, but not what once was.

It was about an athletic program that arguably is currently inferior to Vanderbilt.

It was about finishing 13th overall in the SEC men's all-sports standings for 2016-17. It's about not producing a men's SEC championship team since 2011 men's tennis.

It was about an athletic program that has failed and disappointed time and again. And through it all, people continued to cheer, support, travel, pay and hope.....only to be lied to, let down, and forced to endure.

But, this time would be different. The President of the school changed. The athletic director changed. All of the past failure was well documented. It could not be repeated. It would not be repeated. This time it was going to be different.

And then it wasn't.

And the people, who only have their voices, stood up and said "hell no". As many have pointed out, it united this fan base like nothing else in a decade. Everyone agreed. Everyone had enough. "Hell no". In a matter of a few hours, the push back was so strong that those in power had no choice but to listen.

I know that Tennessee fans are catching hell in some places, but I can only put myself in your shoes and say "I get it".

Thanks for saying this. This anger has clearly been building up.

Why, when a Florida fan can get this, can't our own Administration and Boosters?

We've changed a lot of faces on the hill but we still have the same family making ALL of the decisions. They hired the president and AD and then ordered them to hire Shiano with no other input, ignoring the other boosters and fan base the same way they have with all the bad hires you listed.

Really appreciate your understanding of how we feel gator!

However, there's zero chance this offer was actually pulled because of the fanbase's reaction. There must be much more going on behind the scenes than we can see. Somebody (or somebodies) with power stopped this hire. The narraitve being pushed by the media is a bit naive and un-realistic.

You get a lot of things right here. You'll get a lot of likes. You got a like from me. But most of the fans who are liking this are also, at the same time, acknowledging their own duplicitousness. They will, on the one hand, acknowledge what you're saying here, while, on the other hand, double down on an absolute lie. That lie being, of course, that their disapproval of Schiano is a matter of taking a moral high road. And this is what sickens me. It is absolutely disgusting (and not a little ironic) that people are willing to be so blind to such blatant corruption in their stance on this...and then continue doubling down on it. It is disgusting.

I know that Tennessee fans are catching hell in some places, but I can only put myself in your shoes and say "I get it".

i drove home from Pittsburgh today aftera good holiday trip. listened intently to all the commentary, good and bad. and as an alum, life long fan, i found myself trying to figure out exactly how i felt about all this.

one part anger..."here we go again"....."we did this to ourselves".....

one part indifferent..."it's goint to take a while to get over this, and out of this"

one part embarassed...."we just can't get anything right"

one part vindicated..."maybe this is FINALLY rock bottom, and the one thing i hadn't counted on, actually united this almuni and fan base more than any single hire could have"

you summed up the causation of it all quite nicely. it's not just the one thing. and the national media is too far removed from it, and has zero investment in it. hence their reaction today.

and honeslty, i don't care. cause I get it too. 'nuff is 'nuff.
