This team has beat Va Tech, Florida, and Georgia all the while injuries piling up like crazy and key positions. They almost stole the A&M game with scout team players playing significant snaps. The bill finally came due against Alabama. 5-2 is a pretty darn good start considering what life has been like around here for the past decade. I hope that we can get healthy and win out, make it to Atlanta and have a chance to play them with our players healthy.

Folks need to ease up on the players and coaches IMO.

Saturday was a bad combination of things for us. People forget how bad we were just 3-4 years ago. Funny if you ask people before the season if they would take 10-2 and the east, most would take it. We are still on that path yet tons of people complaining

If we finish 10-2, win the East, and play either bama or aTm for the SEC Championship, I'm good with that.

That being said, we really did get our a** handed to us Saturday.

it's been a good season so far, no reason not to expect it to continue.

Saturday is what it was.....yep it WAS. It's over...lets just hope for a healthier team after the break. It's much needed. At the same time it does appear that some of the fans need a break too. So let's enjoy the break, be thankful for the season we've had thus far, regroup and play a clean second half of the season. Clean slate, new start, and ready for hopefully a memorable finish.

Johnny Majors became HC at Tennessee.
Year 1, 1977: 4-7
Year 2, 1978: 5-5-1
Year 3, 1979: 7-5
Year 4, 1980: 5-6
Year 5, 1981: 8-4
Year 6, 1982: 6-5-1, 1st victory over Alabama.

Butch Jones became HC at Tennessee.
Year 1, 2013: 5-7
Year 2, 2014: 7-6
Year 3, 2015: 9-4
Year 4, 2016: 5-2 YTD...

Now, when Johnny Majors was hired, Bill Battle (a former Alabama player and Asst Coach) had been coaching the Viols for 7 years. His record was 59-22-2 (.723, better winning percentage than all but Bender, Neyland, Barnhill, Dickey & Fulmer). When Butch Jones was hired, disastrous AD, Hamilton had botched the dismissal of Fulmer and the hiring of his replacement(s). Kiffin went 7-6 in his only year, Dooley went 15-21 in three years (Chaney coached the final game of 2012; the Vols won).

The numbers support the notion that, from the get-go, Butch Jones is garnering greater success that his more famous predecessor. I am pleased. His success is the Vols success and vice versa. I am patient and expect my patience to be rewarded in the long view. Jones had made adjustments to his staff, arguably the best hires he could make in the given market at those times. With him at the helm of the Tennessee football program, I am hopeful. GBO.

I'm super proud of them. With as many players out as we have to even contend for half of the game was pretty impressive. It is what it is. Let's get healthy and win out. Maybe we get another shot at Bama.

Hey If you give me the injury report at the first of the season, I bet no one predicts us to be 5-2. We've exceeded expectations with all of the injuries IMO. I hate losing the way we did but screw it. Forget about it and move on. All goals are still reachable.

Butch has won me over............he gives 110% in all aspects of what a Head Coach is responsible for! He recruits relentlessly. He darn near has a stroke when a ref makes a bad call in his mind. Want to see this hard work pay off for him!

We didnt lose by 40 4 years ago

So? 4 years ago we werent on a path to win the east and possibly 10 win season. Bad games happen man. These kids are not robots. They have watched their teams lose a ton of top players while playing 4 tough teams in a row in physically / emotionally draining games. Look how draining it is for fans and the multiply it over and over for players. They had a bad game against a top team, thats its. They are not failures, no need to start firing or even talk about firing everybody. 5 more games to go, lets go win then.

Without injuries, Tennessee is likely the fourth or fifth best team in the SEC West.

The Saturday massacre of Tennessee was the most lopsided loss to Alabama since 1906.

I knew better than to enter this thread OP but I just had to see what level of Hades you were going to get dragged down into after a couple of pages. I still hold the view 120 wins out and we are in the ATL for a rematch.
