I would have gone with the money, because there is no guarantee I would ever get an offer like that again. If Boise loses to Virginia Tech and another team, I am just another good D coordinator in a non-bcs conference. I am sure I will get nice offers, but not THAT nice of offers. I think the salary provides a nice insurance even if the Dooley regime fails. That doesn't mean it isn't a calculated risk.

I don't know that Hat would have stayed at Boise. He just said Wilcox has got to be wincing when looking at UT's roster, even compared to what he left. If you don't realize UT is down at this point, there is nothing I can say that will show you that. Boise State is a legitimate top 10 or 15 team. Tennessee isn't necessarily a legitimate top 50 team. Sure, there is a higher ceiling and potential of success at UT, but it is going to take work and time. And a little luck for a change.

I'll say this...and it's a big "IF"

If they handle VT and Oregon State

And the teams ranked ahead of them lose 1-2 games by season end...they've got a pretty good shot.

With that said...I think someone from the Big 10 will flop through undefeated. As rough as the SEC is...someone from there will. I also think a Big 12 team (texas, OU and Nebraska) all have schedules that could favor going undefeated...(Obviously they call can't because they play each other)

Have you seen Nebraska's schedule? They'll be favorites...and probably big favorites in 11 of their 12 games. OU has a pretty lax schedule too (No Nebraska through regular season)

But you are right...that if a few big conference teams go undefeated...they'll be on the outside looking in.

I'll give you credit for one thing...only have 45 posts and you sure are scrappy. You're like a little yappy dog that keeps getting kicked into the corner but doesn't stop fighting. A lesser and some would argue smarter man would've given up by now. Crack open a Bud Light. You deserve it.

I thought he could have sold the part about how low class hat's methods are while simultaneously resorting to using said methods a little better. Overall, though, a pretty satisfying performance.
