I feel bad for Erik Ainge

To some degree, I do feel bad for EA, because this was his last chance to win a championship. On the other hand, he, more than anyone else, is responsible for the loss yesterday.

Ainge has a good arm but is not mentally tough. He was surrounded by mediocre talent on offense. He had a lot to do with us losing yesterday but we also would not have been there without him this year.

The kid was two passes away from being a hero, and if he had the receivers LSU had last night, all the talking heads would be calling him an early first round draft pick. Instead he has to deal with a bunch of butthurt fans calling him a bum

Ainge is horrible! My damn niece could have played better than he did last night. Yeah, he threw 2 interceptions last night but he got away with 2 more. Hes horrible the bigger the game the worse he plays, and its just sad that a young quarterback like Perilloux had a better game than him. Big time players play good in big games and Ainge has never played good in big games. I just wish Ainge would go back to Oregon, and then we could start developing Crompton for next year.:banghead2::furious3:

I wanted UT to win the SEC Championship for the sake of winning it obviously, but also so Ainge could have some sort of crowning achievement to hang his college career hat on. I'm not a huge fan of him, but I hate to see a guy play 4 years with no championships of any kind, especially when it's someone that seems to be a pretty stand-up guy.

And he was SO close. After the interception/td mishap, he could have made his legend even greater by coming out and taking us downfield and scoring. He came close to that with the Foster pass that went for 40 or 50 some odd yards or whatever.

Then he did it again. Game over.

I really feel bad for the guy. You could tell he was upset on the sidelines and his post-game comments. Sucks.

I don't know about you guys, but I'm ready for the pendulum to swing back our way. It sucks to watch mediocre football year in and out. <--- off-topic but whatever

I hope, for his sake, that Erik doesn't read these boards.

It'll be a while before Vol fans say anything positive about Erik Ainge.

Just like all the real fans that came out and in support for Foster after last years bowl game??

He didn't step it up in the big games while at UT. I'm looking forward to a new QB.

Erik suffered, in my opinion, from not having a healthy Montario Hardesty all season and Meachem leaving early. Foster does a pretty good job, but you really need that 1-2 punch at RB. Meachem would have given Ainge a premier receiver, and while Lucas Taylor and company did very well this year you cannot deny that Meachem would have made them better just by virtue of coverage schemes on him.
