I feel bad for Butch.

I really do. There is no question the guy has worked his tail off trying to rebuild this program, and he is just plainly in over his head. I don't fault him for taking this job, and I think he should be commended for taking on the mess he did. He tried and failed, and it's time to move on, but I do truly appreciate his obvious effort in trying to rebuild the program. I do believe his motives were always coming from the right place, which cannot necessarily be said for his previous two predecessors. he will have left the program in a better state than he found it, from a talent perspective at least.

That said, it's time to fire butch. Flame away.

What's to flame..? He's done his job on that part he jus can't coach at very high level the Butch experiment is over

I don't understand. We're like 18-6 in our last 24 games.....

Agreed. You have to separate facts and feelings.
Butch is a great guy I'm sure but he's not qualified to coach big football.
It's akin to me being a nice guy but you don't want me to do brain surgery on you. I'm not qualified.

If s he's let go this season, he will have left the program in better shape than he found it, but if this drags on, we will be down to Dooley levels in a couple of years.

For all the effort he poured into this program, it's his own ego that got us here. Butch's offensive strategy just isn't good enough, it's never been. He's was just lucky to be bailed out by a quality QB with Dobbs.

Instead of recognizing this weakness and letting someone else take charge, he doubled down and crippled himself. His pride and ego will be his downfall.

Glad and appreciative that he left the program better off. I bought in big time.

Where I get angry is his complete inability to accept the blame and adjust. Looking back to even his first year, we should have see this coming.

Many did but they were heavily criticized by the "true" Vol Fans.:banghead2:

As much as I want to, I just can't bring myself to feel sorry for a multi millionaire. Especially one who is in denial about his own abilities.

Doesn't matter if he is a good guy, a bad guy or anything else. He can not get it done here.
