I don't want to hear "if you played better defense/killed more time/whatever" as a way to exonerate the refs. The fact of the matter is that if they didn't mishandle that ending so badly, we win. No miracle scenarios, no ifs or buts, the game is over and we win. Could we have done more? Sure. But we already did enough to win. That was all that mattered until the refs ruined it. So don't tell me to blame anyone other than the refs. It's their fault.

The ncaa needs to issue an appology to tennesee for allowing a rule to benefit a team with no time outs a free play at the end of a game for violating the rules... I would be shocked if they do not immediatly change the rules to prevent that sitchuation from happening ever again

I love Tennessee but the refs did not cost us the game. That is why Dooley wasn't going crazy because he knows the team imploded. This really sucks.

Still don't get the penalty.
If a wideout can jump to catch a pass then a defender should, and I thought could, jump to hit him. He didn't lead with his head, it was a shoulder hit.
Let em play..........oh yeah and I really wish we had a f'n kicker.

Don't understand that either but evidently as long as the qb and center are out there, regardless of the other players, and time is running out he can spike the ball and just lose yards??
That makes absolutely no sense

The hit Jackson put on the wr was clean. He caught the ball in his right arm, bobbled it, hit the ground, & it ended up in his left arm. The bs spike was a joke. We didn't play lights out but we got screwed. Fk it it's an insignificant bowl game & hopefully recruits saw what big 10 officials were about.

How can u watch that game and honestly say the refs had no part in causing the outcome of the game? or costing us a win?

I guess i'm wrong, but thought an offensive penalty with no timeouts would end the game. Or clock would have to start immediately when ball was placed. Why would a team worry about getting lined up ever if they just needed a field goal and weren't lined up. Just hike the ball to the qb with the whole damn team on the field. Oh well.

Carolina was holding all night, I don't believe that got a 1 holding call. Besides when the ref says "Game over" it should mean game over. Period. This is why some people hate instant replays. That was the longest 1 second ever too wasnt it?

Youre an idiot. Mishandled the ending? What about that late hit that wasnt called? If it was called, UNC would have never ran a draw play they would have just kicked a field goal.
Let me tell you who to blame: Lincoln and your defense for absolutely falling apart at the end of the game.
Please, I beg of you, stop being a Vol fan. Just go away.

Daniel Lincoln sucks, but we knew that going into the game.....

You know there are too many bowl games when these officials are working past November...

It goes both ways fellas. On UNC's last drive, their receiver was hit waayyy after the play and 15 should've been called but wasn't. The spearing on the sidelines was a legit call, there was 1 second on the clock, replay confirmed that and the UT kid did throw an INT. Only question I might have is the rule for too many on the field 5 or 15 yards - but again, UT got away with an obvious late hit too. Felt real bad for the UT QB, that had to hurt.

Only one problem with that. It wasn't a late hit. He was blocked into the player on the ground, shoved from behind so by definition that would be a clip on UNC not a late hit.
