on us reporting secondary violations. I understand that the media is trying to get people fired up because Kiffin called CUM a cheater, and now he has reported NCAA secondary violations, but didn't I read somewhere that Fulmer reported secondary violations like it was nothing? I also think I read that Auburn got Cadillac away from us by putting his head on Bo Jackson's body when he won the heisman and reported a secondary violation for it. So, why is it such a big deal Kiff has reported these violations?

The SEC / NCAA is watching UT with a magnifying glass after Foley did all that whining and complaining.

This isn't the SEC/NCAA watching us with a magnifying glass. This is the KNS feeling out a new coaching staff now that the gravy train is over.

I don't understand what the big deal is with the so-called violations. How is a fog machine or a mock press conference going to persuade a kid to come to UT or any school for that matter.

This is another case of people trying to create a story where there isnt one. First, these violations have been known for about a month now. Second, Tennessee should be commended for reporting these violation because we are one of the few schools that practice self reporting, whens the last time you saw florida or bamma self report?

Expect lots of negativity..
Kiffin came here on a negative note.. leaving oakland was nationally televised ordeal..

Lots of people want to see him fail.. So.. Expect lots more to come..

If he blinks to many times... it should be in the news..

Maybe the smog comes with a nice-looking hostess and the press conference includes lap dancing.

The NCAA is too conservative. This stuff (Kiffin's jab at Urgan, smog, etc) is child's play.

Let's get the band out, fill the stadium, let 'em run through the T in full equipment with the smog and the jumbotron blasting Eric Berry hits on rivals, so these guys can realize playing at Neyland is a lifelong memorable experience. No one granted the opportunity should miss that.

or actually let eric berry hit them as they come out of the tunnel thru the fog!!!! And say welcome to the SEC.....

That would be some kind of welcome... :dance2:

but that's reserved for all those foolish Frosh who went to one of our rivals. Man, I wouldn't want to be them in the open field at Neyland. Our defense is going to be brutal this fall. It seems some of those poor opposing RB's are going to be able to break through the line... for what?

An EB Blast!

It's commonplace. In fact the previous staff that is often lauded for being so clean cut was near the top of the SEC in secondary violations the past decade.

Its a story because in the span of one week we saw our coach accuse Urban of cheating, then once proven false he was reprimanded, THEN it turns out HE was the one breaking the rules.

It hasnt taken long for Kiffin to quickly become one of the most hated coaches. Either he'll do well and we'll love him, or he'll do poorly and we'll point to this p.r. debacle as where it began.

It's only a story because CLK accused CUM of cheating only to (a) learn that he was poorly mistaken and (b) cheat in a minor way himself. If CLK didn't make those stupid statements, then this would be a non-story.

A secondary violation is not even a slap on the writst...

It should never be used in the same sentence with the word cheating.

it's a slow sports period as well. if this was reported during Superbowl week, you probably wouldn't have heard much about it

Thank God for ARod.

I can't wait to sit in Fenway this year and let him know what I really think about him...

I am a fan of Kiffin and support his hire fully..... but, he has brought all of this negative press on himself. It seems he is showing his lack of experience and age to most people. He needs to tone down the attitude and cockiness, or I fear it will ultimately hurt our recruiting....not to mention expedite the "timeline" with which he has to start winning. I like UT being in the national press.....just not because our Coach cant keep his mouth closed when he should.

I know for a fact that UF self reports. Probably not all of them but definitely the more obvious ones. They reported the gymnastics scholarship he got a kid's girlfriend.
