I didn't get to watch the game

It was ugly but we never gave up. I give most credit to the bearded yelling fan they put on TV.

When I saw that guy yelling toward the bench or field... my first thought was, "Gotta be a Volnation poster! And if we win, he will swear the coaches finally did what he told 'em."

I got so caught up in my work, until a buddy sent a text saying "Pruitt can do it ". I completely forgot about the game

What's the first thing I do? GO TO VOLNATION!
And what do I see?....thread after thread after thread about how much we suck.

So I Google the score and we WON 23-22 against 8-5 team from the Big Ten.

Look, I can already guess why the game was so close, but the fact is we WON. How good and beneficial is it to recruiting to close out the season on WIN?

So many of you lose track of where we are.
We're still building! And we close the season on a 6 game win streak! 7 out of the last 8.
I'm damn happy about this.

We Won...

Dude stay in recruiting forum...you just bang your head against wall over here...qb play was nightmare and we barely won because of it...rest team played great very proud d the learned how to win the second half of the season

Dude the key to a happy healthy life is having priorities. I’m praying for you. lol

I agree. I'm happy with my work, but that definitely got out of balance today haha.

And I just watched the highlights.
- Eric Gray > Ty Chandler
- Roman Harrison is healthy and learning
- Henry To'oto'o was everywhere.
- Keyton is playing like a boss now that Bailey is signed.
- JG gave it his all.
- Mauer or Bailey for QB in 2020
- Emerson is a freak!
- GO VOLS!

I’m happy we won but I’m aggravated that Pruitt keeps toying with these qbs.

It will be less confusing next season.
Chaney's first year with these guys and they'll have a better QB room next year.

Agreed but had Pruitt just made the switch and stuck with it BM has as much upside as anyone. HB could’ve come in and redshirted and BM would likely be moving on by the end of 2021. Instead he toyed with it and now BM nor HB is ready and we get JG back which means we lose one HB or BM by 2021.

I'm not sure what's going to happen with JG.
But I believe Pruitt will give Maurer and Bailey every chance to earn the nod. He's had 2 seasons of JG and no way he goes for a 3rd.

Yes, Maurer should have been given a much better shot. Pruitt completely mangled it. And honestly that's mostly on JG. He's the most consistent guy in practice...

Watching was bad.... UT played well enough to be up 28 points minimum. That we came back and won was great.

Short version: JG played terrible and the game looked out of reach until the very end when we had one of the craziest stretches of football ever played and scored 14 points (with the aid of a beautiful onside kick recovery by Eric Gray) in a couple of minutes taking a 23-22 lead out of nowhere. We still nearly gave the game away, but Indiana missed a FG, then managed to go 4 and out on the final stretch.

Easily the weirdest game of the year. We looked like the better team, but nearly gave the game away with turnovers, then managed to pull a miracle comeback.
Spoiler alert!!

If Maurer had been given more of a shot we would have lost several games that we did not.

I disagree.
Can't really qualify that.
With that said MSU, Mizzou, and UK games were won off the arm of JG.
Had Maurer stayed against Bama...who knows. He would have beaten MSU

Maurer was "almost " always asked to come in during the worst scenario. And he was a true freshman this season. He REALLY needed to play vs Ga State and BYU.

It's hard to tell how good he is because he keeps getting injured.

But Pruitt did give him a chance to be the guy. I really won't aruge that it just wasn't the best situations when he did.

Nice summary. Accurate synopsis. This was probably the craziest comeback ever for the Vols. I'll take the win.

I almost feel sorry for Indiana's kicker...almost.
