Settle in. I think we fans are going to have to wander the desert for more than this season before there is change.

This season looks like 6-6 to me. I've written in the past few weeks that fan apathy may rise to the level that would force the hand of the powers that be. I just don't think so right now.

I think that, short of losing control of the team, Fulmer has been given this season. Given the lumps, in order to settle a QB situation and fully install Clawson at Tennessee.

And you know what, Vol football will probably look much better next season. That means the Fulmer era will continue.... and continue...

So, I will just keep my mouth shut and suffer the slings and arrows of irrelevence. Secure in the painful knowledge that change is a good thing sometimes. Just not at Tennessee.

This is the worst I've ever felt about the state of my Volunteer football program. Yeah, it's still mine. Always will be. But it ain't no fun out here wandering in the desert.

Yeah, and the fact there is an article over on VQ that tells about Stephens competing but doesn't tell how he did, but it's makes damn good and sure that it lets us know how Crompton looked real good in the 2 minute drill. I thought it was going to be an open competition, when I should have seen it for what it was, damage control. Fulmer will never change and Hamilton will continue to take the heat for nothing he can do to fix the situation.

I heard that we have been experimenting with a fake fumble play......

I'd make the change at quarterback, no matter how great Crompton looks in practice. He clearly doesn't have enough upstairs to play the position at the SEC level.

How can the University of Tennessee not have a single, serviceable quarterback on the roster?

I think there are one or two people that know what in the world is going to happen.

How can I say this without looking like I am just jumping on the pile? I think the poop has hit the fan, and that it is starting to roll down hill as well. (I apologize for the blended analogy).

Between the message boards, the press, and what may or may not being considered with BOT, the bottom line is chaos.

The football team has not been prepared to play this year. Phillip is out of responses for the poor preparation, and Mike Hamilton hasn't breathed a word. Peterson's name is showing up more and more on message boards. That isn't good for anyone, but it is worse for the current regime.

Who would want to live through this again? Surely Fulmer would not.

This is no longer about what is said on the message boards. This is about starting 1-3 with a junior qb that has been in the program for three years.

Pardon the pun, but I don't think there is any wool left to pull over the eyes of the public.

I think you are closer to the truth than you know, lex. I have a friend who is a mid level booster (6 figure) who told me he is officially done with CPF. He went on to say that there are others as well.

I don't think Phil has lost the team. That would be where ultimate chaos would happen.

I hate to speculate on something like that. It is going to be hard to keep this team focused. Especially after not gaining any ground this week with losses by GA and Fla.

Combine that with the scheme dogma Fulmer has preached over the years, and the liability ultimately falls at the feet of the players.

Between discussing Crompton/Foster fumble gate and defending his new OC I think we have a recipe for disaster. The D can only prop this team up for so long.

Agreed about the D, yes they are saying all the right things regarding win as a team and lose as a team but you know that in their hearts and minds they are saying how many times do we have to get the O the ball back just to watch them do nothing with it, you could see it on their faces on the sideline Sat.

There are a lot of mixed metaphors in this thread. Being a Tennessee fan right now is a lesson in humility.

Fortunately for me, all of my friends and acquaintances are either Big XII fans who have no interest or reason to rub salt in my wounds or they see the anguish on my face when we talk football and fear that I may snap and kill someone. Either way, it could be worse for me.

I bet this thread would get a lot more notice if more of our members knew what the word capitulate meant.

Unfortunately for me, I live in Chatt amongst the tide and dawgs. At least the dawgs have stopped barking for awhile.
