I can't support Butch anymore

This is what I kept harping on concerning the OU game. It wasn't the mistakes or even the play calling in particular that bothered me. Those things can be fixed. It is the way Jones tries to "manage" games. He's now lost to UF 3 times, MU once, VU once, almost to USCe, and OU.

Will he ever realize that it does not work?

We didn't lose tonight because of depth. We lost because we can't make half time adjustments and we can't coach on the offensive side of the ball. With the talent we have at the WR position, it's insane that we have a 3rd year QB that can't get them the ball.

Dobbs can get them the ball. Jones just has to let go of his gameplan. Dobbs may not be the most accurate passer, but the WRs have to make plays as well and the OL has to give the kid time to throw. He may not be a 60% completion guy when turned loose, but he can throw the ball well enough to get it within the vicinity of the WRs. They gotta make plays as well.

If Jones couldn't beat this weak Florida team then the rest of the season is looking bleak. Gone are those top 5 recruiting classes. Recruits will be dropping off like flies. He's been exposed as a snake oil salesman. Probably could of kept the gig going for a few more years if he hadn't made the worst offensive cord. hire in the history of college football.

Even my poor blind dog knew Dobbs was running the ball on that last 3rd down conv.

"BUTCH PLEASE!" has a whole new meaning now. OU and UF are saying "Gimme Some, BUTCH!!!

How quickly a pretender can be found out, in the SEC.

It wasn't coaching that allowed a 4th and 14 to go 70 yards. It wasn't coaching that missed a 55-yard field goal by a few inches. Coaches don't make plays; players do. When we needed to throw the football, we threw it. The bottom line is that we cannot fire our head football coach every time we lose a game we should have won. Period. We've already had 4 coaches in 6 freaking years!

Yes it was, the last defensive play call was horrible no pressure on a freshman qb

It's a mindset that is perpetuated by our HC. There was no reason not to go for 2 after that TD. There was also no reason to basically run up the middle 3 consecutive downs. I'm pretty sure everyone knew what was going to go down when they elected to kick that XP. Are we really that afraid to pass the ball or are we really that bad at throwing the ball?

"Coaches can recruit, motivate, prepare, lead, coach, manage. But they cannot make plays on the field! I'm sorry: 4th and 14 turns into a Touchdown? That's not coaching."

Actually it is coaching. When you don't blitz and play a prevent defense, that kinda crap happens. Playing not to loose doesn't cause a win. Wise up.

My friend, its SOOoooo easy for all of US to sit back and criticize coaching from our loungers and keyboards. Watch the last play again. Our players were in position to make that stop and didn't do it. The Florida kid made a heckuva play. I'm sorry, I'm not buying the coaching argument this time. Some decisions? Maybe. But if Aaron Medley makes that 55-yarder, you aren't here arguing with me tonight.

hey, we are 4 points away from 2 straight over the Gators. chill out, we'll git em next year! lol

At least I'm old enough to remember when we could win a big game. And especially when we had more talent. We are a joke right now and it hurts.

All of the sports commentators I've heard tonight are "HORSE LAUGHING" at the VOLS tonight!!!!!

It wasn't the most pitiful coaching you OR I have ever seen either. Why do our fans always go over to the dark side when we lose a football game? We blitzed the run and the pass for most of the football game and kept them off balance. But sometimes, teams just make plays when they absolutely have to. That's what Florida did today. Their players won that football game, NOT Jim McElwain. You've listened to the hype too much. We're not ready to challenge for the SEC East yet. But its coming. Be patient.

I see your point but I never listen to the hype pal...I know we're all hurting right now but it sure seems like every time we get in a challenging situation we always have BASIC FUNDAMENTAL breakdowns..I.E....blocking and tackling...even a base 10yd zone on the touchdown play...I'm a patient man but it just hurts seeing the same errors we made his first year ...take care...

But sometimes, teams just make plays when they absolutely have to.

You are making my argument for me. For the past 10 years Tennessee has never made a play when the absolutely have to. So either the number of stars don't matter and it's all fate. Or, you have to coach them up so that when they need to make the play they do.

I sure thought we looked good when we were passing the ball. We just don't give it enough looks.

That freshman QB outpassed our Junior QB. He wasn't a Freshman in the 4th Quarter. You don't bring the house on 4th and 14 and leave your DB's exposed. Sorry.

This one is on Jones and Jancek. 27 points should be enough, offense was excellent. Horrifying clock management and rushing 3 on the last TD pass. 5 /5 4th down conversions is inexcusable, 3 of then for 8 yards or more.

Excellent offense of course excepts the pathetic attempt to run out the clock.

If Medley makes a 55 yarder? No! You have the ball with the lead. You get a first down and end the thing!

Now, like I do every year post Florida game, I emotionally detach myself from this team and dive into a bottle of whiskey. See ya'll in the off topic threads
