I can't find 5 wins

No sir..Fulmer won the East the season before he was fired!! He was the best coach we ever had and I'm no psychic but I bet these last 6 years would have been alot better with him still running sh#t..he didn't deserve how he was fired..151-52-1. How can you blame Fulmer for how bad we have become!? You say Jones will "restore UT to its rightful place" but who do you think had us there in the first place..have some respect bro!

Neyland... bro

You need to check some records, they don't lie.
Here are some facts I posted earlier.
As you can see by the record Johnny Majors is the last coach that built the program into a power program.

We were winning SEC Championships before Fulmer became coach.

Records are easy to check.

Last 4 seasons.

Under Johnny Majors:

1989. Tied for SEC Champion 11- 1 won Cotton Bowl finished 5th in AP poll, 5th in Coaches poll.

1990. SEC Champion, 9-2-2 won Sugar Bowl finished 8th in AP, 7th in Coaches

1991 3rd in SEC, 9-3 lost Fiesta Bowl, finished 14th in AP, 15th in coaches

1992 _Majors fired , Majors official record, 5-3, team finished 3rd in SEC , finished 12th in AP , 12th in Coaches.

Under Fulmer:

2005 4th in SEC East, 5-6, no bowl not ranked

2006. 2nd in SEC East, 9-4, lost Outback Bowl, AP 25th, 23rd Coaches

2007, tied for 1st in East, lost SEC Championship game, 10-4, won Outback Bowl, AP 12th, Coaches 12th

2008, Fulmer fired, 5th in East, 5-7, no bowl, not ranked

During Major's last 4 seasons his record was 34-9-2 with 2 SEC Championships, 2-1 in Bowls, fininishing with an average of 10th in nation .

During Fulmer's last 4 seasons his record was 29-21 with zero SEC Championships, 1-1 in Bowls, not ranked in 2 of those seasons.

There are the records.
Was TN in better shape when Fulmer was hired or when he was fired?

Fulmer was a great coach for a while, then something happened and he was no longer a good coach.

He let a championship program slip to mediocrity then Hamilton made bad replacement hires that finished destroying a once proud championship program. Yes the bad state of the UT program goes back to Fulmer and Hamilton, period.

You can't see South Carolina?
You can't see Missouri?
You can't see Kentucky?
You can't see Vandy?

Vandy might be the only definite, but other than Bama, the other four are winnable. Again, not saying we will win them all, but if you can't see them, maybe it's time to get some glasses.

I'm not arguing with this, but the team had better remember how to win convincingly to get more than Vandy in the W column. Right now, they look like they have an epic case of the yips.

Yes he did but the head coach, Majors, gets the credit.

The same can be said about Cutcliffe. The record shows a large part of Fulmer's success was due to Cutcliffe. The head coach, Fulmer, gets the credit.

The head ball coach gets credit for the good and blame for the bad during his tenure as coach.

I give credit to Fulmer for his hard work and success from 1992 - 2001. I also blame his for his overall lackluster job from 2002 - 2008. He was a complete different coach his last several years. To say he had nothing to do with the rise to greatness and then the downfall of the Tennessee football program is ridiculous.
Way to go Gramps, somebody knows what is going on!

Kentucky and Vandy are the only realistic wins I see.....and that is if Kentucky has a mediocre-bad game. Earlier this year I would have counted Mizzou, but not now. They just beat FL like a drum....yes, I know they only scored one offensive touchdown, but still, 42-13 is a pretty convincing win no matter how you look at it. And I would have counted SC earlier after seeing them get thumped by A&M and barely skirting by East Carolina, but then they showed up against GA. Unless one of these teams defenses decides to stay at home when we play them, 6 wins is a stretch and 5 isn't a safe bet.

I picked us to be 6-6 but the only games left I can see us winning are Kentucky and Vandy. I don't consider Kentucky an easy win either. I think Mizzou will be a close game, but they'll find a way to win. Giving away ball games has become second nature it seems.

Sadly, that is a real possibility. Losing to Florida at home really looks like a season killer at this point.

Vols have never lost 8 in a season but that is in jeopardy.

UF game may have been the game to stay out of the seller dweller spot in the east. Vandy is our only chance to avoid it.

We almost beat a good UGA team, then the very next week lost to a horrific UF team. We can win every game after Bama... or lose every one, just as easily. We are unbelievably inconsistent.

Thomas Coleman played center in high school. He has no idea what he is doing at right tackle. Mack Crowder is an undersized center unable to stop anyone unless he has help. How can a coaching staff continue playing the same group, getting the same results, without considering trying some position changes on the O-line? It's obvious there hasn't been any improvement as the year has progressed. Blair should start at RT. Pair at LT. Dobbs should get some plays too. Don't red shirt players for next year. If we end up 4 and 8 this year, it's not because of youth or inexperience, it's because of a coaching staff making too many mistakes.

You really have no idea what you are talking about.

Good to know that we have so many former head coaches, multi-million dollar boosters and athletic directors on VolNation.

Or, we have the vocal majority....an absolute legion of miserable sacks of excrement who can't find ANYTHING good to say about anything, and are perfectly okay with spewing their vomitous nonsense on a minute by minute basis. I dunno how some of y'all even get outta bed in the morning. ****, it's beyond me how some of y'all remember to breathe without an instruction manual.

GrandMomma always told me: "J, if ya ain't got nothin decent to say, keep your trap shut." GrandMomma's a wise woman.

Grandma clearly doesn't watch the Vols play.

Hey coach.... You might get your players to play better if you took the time to learn their name. It is Coleman Thomas. No wonder you haven't been able to fix the o-line from your couch. You are screaming the wrong names at the TV.

It's amazing how many fans say things like this, yet offer no intellectual refutation.

refutation is that re fried beans the next morning ? :)

I see 3 maybe 4 more wins,if Worley survives Bama, that is a big if,Worley will lead this team to a bowl game , if it kills him,he is a true leader,I wonder what would have happened last year,if he wasn't injured

that young man is a true VFL,there is no doubting that,I haven't watched Mizzou play, but USC should be beatable,of course it is hard to say what the Ole ball coaches team will do the rest of the year

Ky is Ky and Vandy is back to where they usually are, after piss poor recruiting from there former coach,so hell yea i think they can make a Bowl game

Go Vols :clapping:

It's crazy how bad people are at looking at a football schedule and a team's performance in the context of who they're playing.
