I can't believe he said this [Butch on not spiking the ball]

We ran three plays after that.

He spikes it. We have 3 plays left to score from second and goal.

He isn't wrong.

You have a red shirt freshman playing QB, you have to slow the game down at that point. But Butch doesn't have a feel for the game and is horrible in game.

This was another one that irked me from Jones.

Did we think about handing the ball to John Kelly? Yes, we did, but with four seconds, that's when we thought about it," Jones said. "If you run the ball and you don't get it, then that's the final play and you're sitting in here asking me why we handed the ball off

Question was why didn't you spike the ball after the Callaway catch.

Butch " it had no bearing on the game "

The better question is why didn't you run the ball on that last play as time was no longer a consideration?

I'd rather have Kelly or Chandler decide the game than a greenhorn QB in his first start.

Do you guys realize we have zero players who have been down 15-9 at home to usce. The odds of us winning due to inexperience is massive much less the massive player development.
Butch Jones
P.s.
Scratch that last one please

Wish I could give you 10 likes...........because I get it.

The comment is absurd. But, at this point who cares what Butch says? He is gone before the end of the season. I refuse to stress over the nonsense that comes out of his mouth anymore.

The funnier part is the people here who still hang onto his every word as if its the Sermon on the Mount. :loco:

Buyback why wait? There is nothing to be gained by keeping the lamest of lame ducks🦆

It's not fair to dump that kind of turmoil on the players and the interim the week of a road trip to play the #1 team in the country. That and you can then hang all the blame for what is a sure blowout on Butch. It makes turning the page easier on the team so salvaging a bowl is possible. Butch deserved to have been fired before he left the field tonight, but this is a business.

I'm thinking the same way. Saban has been nice multiple times since 2010 to keep it under 50. He may be challenged to do so this year. Bama should make a nice break point to cleanly start "something new" to salvage a sliver of the season in 17' for us.

Yep, it gives the interim the chance to right the ship in the weaker half of the schedule. Also 9-3 is still technically possible. I know, I know. But it gives the AD the ability to say I gave Butch the chance to improve his record from last year and play all our biggest rivals. It's easier to sell a perspective coach from their rather than firing him after 3 losses. It's pure damage control, but it makes sense if you look at it rationally.

Travis is a damn dbag. He loved Dooley for 2.5 years. He slips his tongue into whatever cheap anus IT hires until someone slaps the back of his head to make him pull it out.

I'm no Travis fan, but this is not even close to true. He got on the Dooley hate train early. Most of it was personal at first, because apparently he felt Dooley embarrassed him at SEC Media days his first year. Travis asked a question and Dooley replied something like he couldn't understand Travis and that it sounded like he had marbles in his mouth and it got a laugh out of the room. That pissed Travis off big time. After the LSU debacle he started lighting into Dooley, and after the Alabama game that year he started saying he wasn't the guy.

I don't remember him ever being that pro-Butch, and he's been saying he's a terrible coach since Florida 2015.

If you want to hate him for anything UT related, it would be for being pro-James Franklin to the point that he was trash talking UT fans, bragging about how Vandy beat UT, and rubbing it all in UT fans' faces. He lost me then.

The main point of the spike is not all about gaining a few seconds for another down, it stops the clock and gives you a little more to call a play and get players set. By not spiking, you lose time and rushed the play. But for this idiot, he couldn't see that.

Tennessee was extremely lucky to get that last play. I mean really how many times have you see anyone get two plays from a 4 second clock? I have never seen it.

Butch that time you should have used your chart........I promise the chart says to spike the ball.
