I canceled my contribution to Spyre

"they thought they wanted this", would be a more approp statement. Just like they thought they wanted Nico.
They also joined a lawsuit to allow NIL offers to be used in recruiting which, I think, was different than the Nico lawsuit they filed.

Tennessee, and by proxy UT, is neck deep in creating this chaos the fans hate.

Also, do you think the revenue sharing could be divided by revenue earned?
You have to ask AOC, Bernie Sanders, Gloria Allred, countless federal judges etc, etc. that question.

With Title IX in play, all the do nothings in congress and elsewhere will be proclaiming women are yet again victims of the patriarchy and looking for cash payouts in the name of equity

Even if they go by title 9 and split the benefit, the athletic department brought in over 200 million dollars. They can share Just the tv revenue which was about 50 mill, and have a budget of 25 mill. That would be more than the OSU team got in NIL last year. I think I saw Spyre was paying around 14 mill to football.

The point is that the check keeps getting picked up by boosters and fans, when it should be the greedy university.

Can't do it anymore, what a sh*t show CFB has become. I can't in good conscience contribute anymore. That's all... flame a way.
I get it, but the chaos doenst bother me bc NIL is still new. I dont begrudge anyone who doesnt like it, but to me its inevitable. The clown show some will display it par for the course. I wish our coach was more aggressive with recruting however.

Get those 2*s that bleeeeed orange and roll with it. That rivalry w Vandy gets back in full swing and Heup is fired after going 5-7, 4-8, & 6-6. Makes me feels all warm and fuzzy now tho.
We all want the VOLS to win nattys ever year. But to some of us there is a difference between the football players at Neyland, and the football played in Nashville at whatever the hell that stadium is called (and I'm not talking about Vandy). When the difference between those two is only the age of the players, college football will officially be dead.

It’s a double edged sword.

We don’t pay NIL we go back to Pruitt and jones type records.

We pay NIL we cheer on a bunch of paid mercenaries who don’t give a damn about UT.

There had to be a happy medium.

Find guys local who grew up in or near TN and build with the best of those.

We gotta stay out of Cali etc. We get burned every time it seems. Thinking of Toto.
Oh yeah those Clausens out of Cali were just horrible for us.

Watch this.

The ones loudly claiming that "I WILL NEVER EVER DONATE TO SPYRE OR ANY NIL FUND RAAAAAAAWR"

......will be the same ones b**ching their faces off when the players they want don't come to Knoxville. Sorry, but "wanting only Tennessee boys that bleed Orange" ain't gonna get ya very far.

There are way better things to spend money on than contributing to some diva who will just run at the first sign of more money.

You won't hear me complain. I'll find other ways to entertain myself. I'm not interested in giving my hard earned cash to an 18 year old so he can buy a new Range Rover.

NO OTHER SPORT ASKS THE FANS TO START A GOFUNDME FOR A NEW PLAYER. THE PLAYERS CAN BE PAID BUT NOT BY ME.

I with you. Seeing the players rolling around in expensive leases paid for by local businesses and fan DONATIONS makes me uneasy.

Derek Dooley-ish seasons make me uneasy.

Without a strong NIL we can look forward to being out recruited by teams like KY and losing to them.

Life's not always full of easy choices. I dislike NIL despite understanding the legality of it. I dislike losing to mediocre SEC teams, I'm a UT fan.

It's not supposed to be that way. It's not supposed to be kids driving Lambos either.

I'm paying for better football from the good side of Neyland than from the bad side.

I don't think every time I overpay for parking about some guy laughing his butt off in his Mercedes on my money. I don't think every time I overpay for a beer at a bar about what car the bartender or owner gets to drive to work.

Of the all the Tennessee athletes, how many enter the portal and transfer solely because of money? An overwhelming number don't ever transfer.

Some certainly do while others leave because of being passed by other better players, not getting playing time, friction with coaches and variety of other reasons.

Let's keep some perspective

James Pearce Jr ripped that ball away from Mertz in a truly outstanding defensive play. It wasn't a "gift." It was literally a take away.View attachment 737166

Mod McCoy took inside position away from the heralded WR, timed Milroe's pass perfectly, and went sky-high to make that interception. It was a great defensive play.

That ball can never come out if you’re Milroe. McCoy did play it great, but Milroe made a horrendous decision, and that was still a gift. The play was nearly dead. I’m just saying our offense or lack thereof should’ve gotten us beat in those games, and people can say whatever they want about “Heupel playing to our strengths and playing complimentary football” but he loves the deep ball and wants to light up the scoreboard, and we simply weren’t able to do it last year

The NCAA passed rules on Monday allowing colleges to pay student athletes, breaking decades of precedent in response to a multibillion-dollar lawsuit settlement.

“The nine proposals passed by the NCAA board were largely expected but still mark a defining day in the history of college sports. An athlete’s ability to be paid directly by his or her university is on track to be enshrined in a rulebook that has forbidden that kind of relationship for decades,” reported the Associated Press.

“For the NCAA rules to officially go into effect, the changes prescribed by the House settlement still have to be granted final approval by a federal judge, whose hearing earlier this month led to questions about potential tweaks before the new guidelines are supposed to go into play on July 1,” it added.

Around 150 rules will be reformed, including modifying laws allowing schools to pay student athletes, introducing roster limits for teams while eliminating scholarship limits, and establishing technology platforms for schools to monitor athlete payments. Students must also attend school full-time while working toward a degree to earn the benefits.
