Petrino is the best the Falcons will ever do as a coach. Dan Reeves was good. Just a little late in the career and health to do much more than he did. Falcons are notorious for bum headed moves. This was a very good hire for them, and their image.

i think short term, if bama beats auburn and TN in the same year, in the near future, that in and of itself would suffice the bama faithful.

don't forget, Shula didn't get fired for 6-6. Shula got fired b/c of his w/l record against Auburn.

If they beat Auburn this season, Shula is still the head choach, and there is no doubt in my mind about it.

in relation to championships, i don't think anyone expects anything immediate.

Saban will have a championship defense in two years, and will have a complete championship caliber team in three years.

In 01 Saban didn't have the best team in the SEC.

The big question for Bama now is can they field a star QB. Yes they've had Namath, Starr, Stabler, but those days have long past.

They've recruited lots of bluechip players, but have failed to develop them at this position.
