“To get to this point, to shoot blanks on Jon Gruden, which we all knew he would, to hang around for three days waiting for Dan Mullen to get the call from Scott Stricklin. And then, to use as your third or fourth or fifth choice without doing proper vetting is an embarrassment.”

Where are all the people that said the coaching search would be different this time? That Tennessee is in a better place this time to get a top choice. Where are all the Grudenites who keep preaching he is coming here? JON GRUDEN IS NEVER COMING TO TN AND YOU ARE ONLY MAKING IT WORSE EVERY TIME YOU BRING HIM UP DURING A COACHING SEARCH.

The reality is Schiano was the 4th or 5th choice and Currie has been told no many times already. Mullen is a good coach and Florida actually beat us again.

tell me who said no. I want to know who got a real offer. Did currie offer big money to people or did he look at a short list from jimmy sexton and pick out a guy he knew and start the process.

It’s what I’m dying to know. Who did he actually contact or offer.

I see every reason why Gruden would coach UT. I see every reason to think Haslam and Currie never pursued Gruden: Haslam. The money is there. The boosters are there. I think Grudens interest is there. Haslam cannot control Gruden. Currie is a puppet installed by Haslam to undermine the boosters and impose Haslams will in spite of booster support for Gruden. Gruden is a very real candidate if only we could kick Haslam and his puppet Currie to the curb.
