why?
Because we are solid across both lines of scrimmage.
So what we have a new QB, a good OL will make up for his shortcomings long enough for him to catch on.
As for UGA, I think they end up like we did in 2005.
We are flying under the radar and will shock the world!
UF? They truly have half their players in the hospital, we will run them out of Neyland! The rest of the East? Are you kidding me?
Lastly listen to what the bookies say, who bet for a living.

Bookmakers most certainly don't bet for a living.

i'm not sure what to think. They have TN lower in the polls than any other poll. Plus, they have South Carolina ranked at #14.

We're the 6th best team in the conference according to the bookies.

clearly you guys are posting too much rational thought and not enough emoticons to fully appreciate VS # 1's cerebral analysis of the upcoming season.

How dare you! UF has the best QB in all of college football. UGA has the best RB, and Bama has the best coach! Not to mention Auburn will destroy us, SC will embarrass us.

That will teach you to be positive on this board. Damn you

I think we will go as Crompton goes...unless the defense is awesome

That's putting a lot of eggs in one basket. If the O-line can "show us the money" and prove that its brute strength can translate into gaping holes and pass protection, I'll take a servicable Crompton. If we can run the ball effectively and get the ball to Jones, Warren, Taylor, and Foster out of the backfield, and if our other receivers can catch and get a few yards, I think that we'll be fine on O. Our D-line has questions and is really on one or two big injuries away from being very suspect. We need another LB to step up. Williams would/will be a huge plus.

I like how vs1 is this confident. Dude, UF only lost 2 starters b/c of injury and it's not like those were end of the world injuries. UF had depth on the OL and Hernandez is a capable backup to Ingram. Besides they got better on offense after averaging 42.5 points a game. UGA (i think is overrated) won't fall of the face of the earth, they have to much talent and Richt is an excellent coach. Besides if Stafford shows up this year, then they will win 10 games easy. The rest of the sec east sucks, but what if LSU finds a good qb, are you confident we win the SECG. What if Auburn learns Tony Franklin's system by the end of the year and their offense really improves? You can say we will win the SEC east, but you can't say we win the SECG. There's nothing you can stand on a/b the SECG (besides the fact we are 0-3 the last ten years)

I think we are just as talented as any other team in the SEC.

Its a new season, so we control our own destiny!

I believe Warren becoming eligible helps us tremendously. I believe having him will spread out the opposing Defense and allow those gaping holes you're talking about.

Warren also gives JC a safety valve to dump off on which keeps the defense from moving up on the sides. We may lose 4 games this year but that doesn't mean we're not leaps and bounds better than last year, we're a lot better than last year but so are others. I do feel in my heart though we're going to beat Florida and Georgia and Alabama. Auburn scares me.

I would just like a mod to confirm or deny that VS#1's ISP is from Gainesville or somewhere in Alabama. I feel like this guy is taunting us.

Wow, I didn't realize half of the gators are in the hospital with injuries, isn't that about 45 players? I guess I need to check ESPN more often.

I doubt georgia will have a vols 2005. Nobody's is topping that monumental collapse. Just keep telling yourselves it was all randy's fault.

I think that it's highly possible that we win the east and then possibly the whole SEC. The East comes down to Tennessee and Florida with Georgia right behind us IMO. It is highly likely that the East Champion will be decided on September 20th.

Injury's and schedule will determine who wins the east. Who handles both the best. Right now i'd have to give the nod to florida. They only travel out of state i think three times all year. If the injury' bug doesn't bite them. They'll be hard to beat. Second is between us and the dawgs.

do you really think our defensive front has that kind of talent?

It should, but we have only seen flashes.

People confuse talent with depth of talent. This year we will be starting eleven men on both sides of the football that should be able to compete with the eleven guys on the other side.

I don't think our depth of talent is what it used to be, and I think we are actually just catching up again with our starting 11.

I do expect our secondary, linebackers, running backs, qb, receivers and our defensive ends to look faster this year.

i think the 1st 4 can hold their own.......it's after that where we start to see some drop off.

that said, LSU and GA, and may be SC should be atop of the DL talent rankings......
