me? I'm sad and frustrated. I keep thinking we have reached the bottom and are going to start climbing out of this hole, but we keep going lower.

Of course a 3rd string true freshman QB should suck in all other scenarios. So maybe it's my fault I'm just mentally exhausted with thinking this team can win.

Three turnovers in position to score. Average QB play produces more than 3 pts. Maybe Worley shouldn't have been rushed into this start.

This isn't on the players tonight, at least for the most part. The coaching tonight has been horrific, for lack of a better word.

I'm a DD guy, but tonight has really, really jaded me.

Agreed, it's like all but the defense is grasping at straws that don't exist.

I hear ya, brother. This is about as horrible as I've ever felt as a fan. I keep thinking we've reached the bottom, and then getting surprised when we sink even lower.

However, we've just seen a Zach Rodgers reception for a 1st Down ... maybe that signals a shift in the space-time continuum. Hell, who knows? Let's go Vols!!!!!

Offensive playcalling needs to be examined by Hart and the Athletic Department. Chaney or Dooley one needs to hang their head on this one .

I am not anything more than weary. I quit watching in the 4th. No idea how the game ended. Nor would I care. Our QB and WR play is attrocious. Nuff said

I am sick and tired of not having any upper classmen leadership. I am sick and tired of all the injuries to key players. I am sick and tired of always losing to our rivals. I am sick and tired of waiting for next year. But most of all, I am sick and tired of being sick and tired.

I hear ya and I'm feeling the same way. I know this will be long, but if you're willing to read it there might be some thoughts in it that might pep you back up a little.

At this point it should be obvious to everyone just how talented and valuable to our offense Hunter and Bray truly are. Da'Rick and Rivera and Arnette are all good, but Hunter was truly our difference maker. Getting him back next year will be so huge for us you can't even imagine. Plus Rivera will be nicely developed at TE and Arnette will really start showing us his true potential as a slot possession reciever AND we'll have a new crop of guys like Croom who will hopefully contribute.

Bray is the man. What can you say. Losing him cost us the USCe game imo. LSU and BAMA might have been a little more competitive, but I doubt we win those even with Bray. Hunter and Bray... maybe.

Simms should have never been recruited. The guy is not even close to SEC level talent. Poor coaching choice. Makes me wonder how bad the guys behind Crompton truly were if Kiffin thought Simms was a better alternative.

I like Da'Rick a lot, but have you noticed that he almost always catches with his BODY rather than his HANDS? That's a limitation as a reciever that he needs to be coached/practiced out of. That fade that went through his hands is as good as it will ever get. Da'Rick needs to learn to attack the ball and catch with his hands. Period.

For those hating on CJC, I'm about 50/50 on him as our OC at this point. I keep hearing he's an extremely talented offensive mind, but about half the time I'm not getting his choices. That being said, for those that don't get the deep fades and seam routes he was calling for Worley last night, go watch Worley's high school highlight vid. He's been throwing those passes with ease for years which is why CJC called them. And Arnette looked great catching his. If Da'Rick catches that first fade it's a TD. The second fade Worley underthrew. Instead of a nice arcing touch pass over the 2 DBs heads that Da'Rick can run under it was short and it got picked. He's not used to SEC level talent DBs yet, but he got a nice taste of them last night. It was a really good learning lesson for him and those "scars" will help him to be better in the future.

I'm not sure about Chaney. I kind of get him, but I'm just not sure.

I'm wondering why our OC and DC don't also double as position coaches? With NCAA restrictions on the number of coaches we're allowed it really hurts the team that the OC and DC aren't also "great" position coaches. Like CJC should be coaching the QBs or the Oline and CJW should also coach the DBs. That's how a lot of schools get around this. Meyer coached special teams at UF. CDD should be doing that so we can have a top kicking coach or a full time RB coach instead of a GA doing it. Just an observation that I haven't seen anyone else make on here.

I'm not on board with CTJ or CHH. I've heard some praise for Harry, but I'm not seeing it. And Terry isn't giving us anything with the DBs. I'm also not impressed with our QB coach. I'm almost never negative and I do believe in giving these guys time, but we should see more out of these key positions. I can go either way about giving them all 1 more season to show out and develop their players, but it could be CDD's undoing too. Bringing in other position coaches for next year might or might not do a darn thing for either the program or for keeping CDD's job. Tough call.

I like CDD and I want him to be the guy. I'm not sure if he's got what it takes. Saban failed at MI ST. Maybe failing at UT will be CDD's "coaching scars". I just can't think of a single top notch coach that we could bring in to UT. Who could we tempt away from programs that they've built up? Patterson? Not going to happen. Leach? Worse than CDD imo. IDK. I'm still putting my faith in Dooley. He may need to make some changes on his staff. Maybe that's the answer. 1 more season with everyone healthy and then we'll all know.

I'm sick of the negative fans. I don't even read their threads anymore. They aren't true VOL fans. Being a fan means you stick it out with your team through good and bad. The negative guys on this board are part of what's wrong with the program right now. I'm a fan til it hurts and beyond. Dooley is a helluva guy and a great fit for us. He needs time. Even Saban would need 4-5 years to get UT straightened back out. Keep the faith.

I truly hope some of my observations and opinions helped. I know we're all beat down right now. Just think about how sweet it's going to be when all of this is set right again. Now let's go pound MTSU into pudding!

GO VOLS!

I feel your pain. Felt the same way back in '05 and '08.

Not to bail Dooley out...he deserves some criticism here...but it's still a relatively new staff, with a really young roster, against the 3rd toughest schedule in the nation. Take away Bray, Hunter, and lose JJ right before the season starts, and well...you get my point.

My main concern is our absolutely putrid running game. I won't pretend to know what, or who, is to blame for that, but I will say that the root cause needs to be found, and fixed. Pronto.

Secondly, nothing against Matt Simms, but he just simply is not an SEC QB. I agree with starting Worley, and I think he's our guy until Bray is back. But with no running game, we've got to find other ways to help Worley survive his initiation into SEC football.

I bailed at the 5:43 mark in the 4th, when the outcome was obvious. I feel your pain.

But...thick or thin...I am and always will be a Vol fan. Like most of us are, and always will be. If it holds true that "it's always darkest before the dawn", then somebody owes us a helluva sunrise, right?

Go Vols.
