I have been following the Vols since the 80s. Carried season tickets throughout the 90s, which was very good years, and have been wanting those years to return. Will not say we are there, of course, but last night our team played smash mouth football with the #1 team in their house. I really enjoyed that game and was finally able to let my chores/hobbies take a backseat after halftime for a change. Good tackling. Good line play on both sides of the ball. Even our secondary played well. Coached well. Last night I for one like what I saw.

If you notice, about every other player the tv announcers introduced on Tennessee’s team were freshman. These guys are going to remember this one the next time/times they play Alabama.
Pruitt is slowly changing the culture where these guys in fact believe they belong on the same field with the #1 s of the world

I love how we got to Tua and didn't give up on plays on defense. I love how we sacked the living **** out of their backup. I love how our team tackled.

Bama thought it was going to be an easy day- and we made them pay for opening the doors to us. That's all I could ask.

Bonus: Icing the kicker was hilarious.

Extra Bonus: JG hopefully won't see the field again.

Not a bad night.

I agree OP. My first game was in '65. I've seen a lot of teams that didn't play like they gave a damn over the decades. Last night was not one of them. This team showed heart and fight. It's probably happened too late for us to make a bowl game, but the culture is changing. We just have to get better players and more of them.

I'm so happy with CJP - completely convinced he is the right coach to get us back to where we need to be (kudos to Fulmer for bringing him in). This was a very physical game in the toughest environment possible and we did not back down at all (unlike so many times over the last 10+ years). I especially liked the passion CJP showed specifically against Bama - for anyone doubting where his heart and soul is all they need to consider is how badly he wanted this game. Even Chaney (another great hire) showed some emotion from the box which was fantastic to see.

Great Post OP!!! And after taking all 3 timeouts to ice the kicker, I may get a Pruitt Tattoo!!! LOL!!!

Pissing off 80,000 bammers was a thing of BEAUTY!!!!

.
I am not an advocate to injuring players, but taking out Tua, might have compromised Bama's chances at a NC

So what - they took out Maurer which compromised our chances of beating Bama which would have been huge step in turning our program around (think what that would do for recruiting alone, let alone that we would be almost guaranteed to make a bowl game this year). And by the way compromising Bama's chances at success is always a good thing.

I hate it for Maurer, I hope he is ok.

Nah. He'll get rest next week since they play arky. Then he gets a bye week. He'll be fine by LSU.

I’ve been a staunch critic of Pruitt since the Ga State game. But what I’ve seen the last two weeks, has convinced me that he is the right man for the job. I think that he is buying in, as well as his players. I truly believe that after he gets all of his guys in here, we will be competing with Georgia and Bama for the top spot in the SEC.

I also don't want to see someone hurt, but when they took that cheap shot on Maurer, it was eye for an eye from that point on.

I thought I heard one of them commenting about 85 or so of the team being underclassmen. I'm not the moral victory type, but I'm extremely proud of those young men. They played the brand of football that Tennessee has historically been known for. I'm excited for the future of the program GB🍊

If you give a Rat's Ass about Bama's compromised chances at a NC, you are on the wrong website. JMHO Bama sucks. I hate them with a WHITE HOT PASSION. GO VOLS!

The biggest improvement has come from the oline. They did a great job yesterday considering JG’s complete inability to throw the football. We competed pretty well yesterday against a team with far superior talent. That is all you can expect in year two!

The big “if” is Maurers status. He plays and we win out. The Vols were the more physical team last night

I’m impressed he has not let the team quit on him. I think this is the first time TN players came into the Bama game with a mindset to win since 2015... and it was a few years before that one too.

Overall I’m still indifferent to him. It’s too hard for me to look past how unprepared start of the season appeared to be (which was not all JG’s fault as some would claim).

There has been improvement and I’m encouraged by that... still too wounded to get my hopes up though.
