I've never been to a game at Neyland. I have wanted to since I was little but things just haven't worked in my favor to allow me to make it yet. I was planning to head out to a game this year as soon as my hours at work started to decline a bit but, to hear stories like this makes me so sick. I know I would have been incarcerated over that one, no questions asked because I probably would have thrown my drink in that couple's faces. Maybe I should relegate myself to not attending a game in person, at least not at Neyland then. Dear Lord, I've managed thirty-two years and no convictions so, I'd prefer to not have my first occur while I am watching the team I love and spend every day supporting and following as avidly as anyone on these and other Boards/Sites.
I get such a feeling of pride when I watch UT on TV, seeing and hearing the enthusiasm and passion of our fans in the stands. It makes me feel connected to the stadium without actually being there. It is one of the reasons I love this team so much!
I feel like there are some bad decisions being made these days by the UT powers that be. First of all, no one should speak to paying fans in this manner, not ever. It is disrespectful and totally unprofessional at Taco Bell, much less at Neyland where you spend a small fortune to be there. Obviously, these ushers need to go back to working in post-game stadium trash collection or maybe stadium seat gum removal duty would suit their characters a bit more nicely. Ushers should be kicking people out that want to moan and complain about others showing their support for our team, IMO. Asking people to sit instead of support the team as loudly and obnoxiously as possible, WTF?!?!? If those people want to sit, splurge for a seat in the box suites or one of those other overly priced new seating areas for the rich and quiet then! Otherwise, you can stand up to see and open your mouths once in a while or GTFO and go jump on the Alabubba band wagon then, seems like everyone else is these days!!! (Nearly threw up in my mouth when I was watching CSI New York the other day and the new redneck woman they have on there started some tripe about when she throws a penny in a wishing well she always wishes for Alacrappa to win a NC! What!? Why ruin CSI like that? Sorry, I digress.) I'd rather these fans cheer for another team, just make that team's home games easier for us to win.
I am sorry this happened to you guys, obviously, you have tons of support from all of us message board cowboys though, if that makes you feel any better at all?
