I admit it. I don’t like having Missouri in the SEC

I would prefer someone else in the SEC like VT or NC State over Mizzou. While I enjoyed the trip to Columbia, MO a couple years ago, it definitely does not have the SEC feel. It is much more of a Midwestern school akin to Wisconsin, etc. A&M does have an SEC feel to me. It's still weird having them in the SEC, but they fit better than Mizzou.

MIzzou should have joined the B1G during that time of expansion. They just seem to fit better into that midwestern mind set around football. Geographically, they are actually closer the University of Illinois and Indiana University than any SEC school (closest to them is Arky then KY).

Looking at the schools around that time that did realign I would have much rather taken Louisville than Mizzou.

It’s probably a get off my lawn moment, but I liked the league better when there were 12 teams. Who’s with me?

I agree. I miss the previous home-away rotation with the 2 west teams.

Ga Tech or FSU would be good.

GaTech left the SEC in 1964 and was actually one of the founding members.
Two ways of looking at that:
1) Would be cool to have all the founding members back in the SEC, but that means we take on Tulane and Sewannee from D-III
2) They left the party, why let them back in now???

FSU will never join the SEC because of Florida - bad enough they play every year, but for it to actually mean something within a conference...plus they would be fighting Florida for 'local' broadcast revenues even more more as a network would commit to carrying an SEC game, but would have to take one or the other. Whereas if in separate conferences, the same network likely has the bandwidth to carry a game from two different conferences. Could be too their still butthurt over 1998 as well...

I'd like NC too, but NC never would've done it simply due to their Duke Basketball Rivalry
The 3 most populous states in the traditional SEC map, GA,FL, TX have only 1 member school. AL, TN, and MS have 2 each. Adding Houston or Tulane( once a member) to that area would not hurt LSU or A&M and strengthen that section. Adding UCF would not take recruits from UF any more than the rest of the SEC or ACC already does. In fact it would probably hurt FSU and Miami more than UF. GA Tech is the best fit geographically and everybody recruits the state of GA, so again it wouldn't negatively affect UGA, except to hear them cry. The ACC has made it work for years with 4 schools in 1 state, so adding a member in GA, FL, TX/LA shouldn't be a deciding factor and just makes too much sense. Even adding Memphis wouldn't hurt that much since most folks in E TN and M TN don't claim W TN anyway and it would give ARK a good rival game. Memphis would hurt Ole Miss more than UT or Vandy. Pay Missouri to drop out. GT, UCF, Tulane, Houston, or worst case,Memphis, would jump at the chance to join the SEC. JMO.

Arkansas and USCjr - both fit in eventually

A&M fits in

Mizzou - like lukewarm water. neither here nor there.

I do not care for them in the SEC. I also dislike the alternative members. WVa is nowhere economically. VaTEch is not a big revenue or ratings boost. Any Texas school worth having is to be opposed by A&M. NC schools are going nowhere. Clemson likes being the big dog at a chihuahua reunion.

So leave it alone and see if they change the culture and Missouri to a college sport state.

Purely in theory. I know it would never happen.

North Carolina
I couldn’t agree with this more.. In theory I’d have taken UNC and NC State.. It would have provided depth for basketball and baseball (which the SEC is a tremendous baseball conference), but also would have provided decent football programs with no threat to the power players in the conference.

There are atleast 10 teams that should be in the SEC before Misery! In no particular order, UNC, NCST, Clemson, VT, FSU, GT, Memphis, APPY State, and Duke.

For some reason Missouri Athletics are incredibly boring to me. Houston Kress said it best when he tweeted earlier today, "Missouri is the hardest team in the SEC to talk about."

This is true. They do have a loyal base but if there is a difference between Missouri and other SEC fanbases... it is they have better "sportsmanship"... and to me accept losing too easily.

FSU n Clemson were both given the opportunity b4 TAM n Mizzo accepted. Neither wanted anything to do with the SEC week in n week out. Dabo likes being a big fish n a little pond. Couldn't hack it in the SEC, and he knows it.
Dabo would be just fine in the SEC. Please don't say that, all things being equal, 3 years ago you wouldn't have taken Dabo over Pruitt...or anyone else for that matter. He's done nothing in that time to discourage that notion either.

Agree 100 percent, just an odd fit! I really enjoy a&m and would enjoy West Virginia, Ga. Tech or Va tech far more than Mizz!
