I’m Sorry, But This Was Hugely Disappointing

Shooters go through cold streaks, it happens. My issue with Turner is that he continues to jack up so many threes when he's struggling. Which game was it where he was struggling and took more shots than Grant? Was that LSU?

He forced the issue at Kentucky.

I wonder if the shoulder is acting up again. His shots don’t look the same again.

Possible. But still makes you wonder why he's taking so many shots. He can help the team in other ways when his shot is off.

That disappointed me the most, we didn’t force them to drive and got goaded into playing their game.

Here’s my deal with this, Vitale and even Barnes referred to some wide open layups. Sure, one time they let a guy behind them. But Harper took the ball the length of the court and got an easy layup. You can see Turner take a step in to help but then realize he was leaving a guy open at the three point line. I am not sure what else you do in that circumstance once the initial man is beaten.

It happens playing on the road in the SEC is a battle every week. Looks like we gambled to much they couldn't shoot the three should've extended maybe made them drive it. No matter I think this is an SEC title for us when they scalp LSU for cheating. Probably share it with Kentucky but think we'll get it.

I’ll explain it for you as simply as possible because you didn’t seem to get the first 7 explanations.

A Bruce Pearl team (which always are far better at home than on the road) got an upset win at home because they shot well and forced turnovers. How many times between 05 and 12 were we on the opposite end of the same situation?
That was a typical Pearl kind of game... they got killed on the boards but compensated for it with the 3 ball and got some timely turnovers. I feel very good about our chances in Nashville next week. No more road games... This is where it really starts. Let's go!

Yeah and he has been. Just the shots haven’t been going in. But shooters shoot and that’s part of it.

Its called playing defense. LMAO Also adapating and adjusting. Don't fall for the fakes, the "drives", ect ect every single time.

So, just let them drive in uncontested? That’s exactly what Vitale was criticizing.

They put a lot of pressure on a defense, but it will even out. They will miss a few of those on a neutral court and lose.

I believe au is the best team in the sec in steals. Their 11 today was the difference. Way above their av.

Turner over the the last 5 games 3-26 from three. Barnes should be on that kid to drive. I dont understand why Barnes lets him continue to jack up threes.

I don't have a problem with him shooting, I just feel like he should let the game come to him a little more while he's struggling.

I’m gonna apologize right upfront, given the body of work done by this team. But with greatness comes the burden of ever heightened expectations by your supporters.

There’s one thing I can’t let go of from this game. Auburn just wanted it more. Whatever Pearl said to them at half time motivated them to a higher level. They just “out-gutted” us in the 2nd half, with so much at stake. TV put up a quote from Bone during the game, “We don’t ever want to walk off the court after the game knowing that the other team wanted it more” (or words to that effect). Well, that happened.

The only silver lining is to hope that this inspires the Vols to have more consistent level of effort in the SEC tournament. I know we all want that.

I'm not that bothered by the lo

Not gonna make any friends with this post, but here goes. Tennessee is a good team but not a great team. Mostly overrated in my opinion based on the so many close calls earlier against Florida and a few others. They will not win the SEC tourney or make it past the great eight in the NCAA. Hoping and praying that I am wrong! Today was a bitter disappointment.

I don't have any problem with him taking all the 3's that come his way off of multiple passes or passes out of the post. To me, the problem with Turner is when he starts taking 3's off the dribble or contested 3's. As a team we settled for too many 3's which played into Auburn's style of play. We should have passed into the post on 90% of our offensive possessions and allowed Williams and Schofield to run the offense and slowed the game down, maybe getting some more free throws. JMO

TN lost, on the road, on senior day, to a very good Auburn team that is playing better. Nothing to hang your head over and the sky is not falling.

TN us getting the best from the opponents they are playing. They are also undefeated at home. Basketball teams lose some games, nit the end of the world.

The 3 point line is the hardest shot to guard in basketball and any team will get some open looks andany team can get hot from 3 point land........ It is the equalizer in basketball.
