I’ll Be More Satisfied When We Finally Fire Jimmy Hyams

And yet Hyams breaks a lot of stories.

I don't like the guy. But somehow he gets the right information.
I think those days are over or are close to being over. Jimmy got a lot of his information from people connected to Fulmer, if not from Fulmer himself. That cadre of people is on the outside now. If Jimmy will not or cannot cultivate some new sources, there isn't much use for his services.

Besides, breaking news isn't as valuable today as it once was. The "valued added" opinion and commentary is what people really want. I guess Jimmy does that too, but he isn't the best at it. It's not like the 1970s where there were much fewer distribution channels and there was real value to being the first to break a story.

Personally, I wish DW would concern himself more with building back the program, and a bit less on journalist witch hunts and picking fights with the passionate fan base.

Basilio's 'Blue Blood Plumbing' commercial is gold.

We know that cleaning up the department's handling of information is one of his priorities. We don't know how much time and effort he's putting into each priority so we don't have a basis to criticize him at this point. For all we know, he just suspected someone so he threw the wrong name out there to them to see where it wound up. Doesn't take any effort or real time to do that.

Great "scoops"
like Peyton is leaving early for the NFL
Or
On the night of Lane's game against South Carolina
"Tennessee will never wear black jerseys "

Again, it has been substantiated that was actually true and that Hyams leaking it ruined the deal. I believe @DeerPark12 was the one who said that. He wasn't wrong there.

I said it back when it happened. I’ve seen several people in the media mention it over the last couple of years. Not saying they got it from me at all, but I think confirmation of it has gotten out in the years since. One of my really close friends back in Knoxville knew a lot of people at Purdue at the and basically confirmed the story for me last year.

DeerPark12 still posting?

A lot less than I used to. All the negativity honestly bothers me to my core. The fighting and anger when you say something or correct obvious misinformation. Overall, just how negative people are about the program. I just had a change in my life a little more than a year ago, deleted Twitter, deleted Facebook, and I’ve been much better for it.

Sad thing, you are on target with this but will get blasted. I quit all social media and just started back here since Pruitt was fired to keep up with the new direction of the program. I just scroll past or put names on ignore that keep the negative act up.. Works for me.

DP, your posts are always appreciated, though some pushback is to be expected.

People are negative about the program, myself included. I grew up a Tennessee fan, and endured the late 70s early 80s. Enjoyed the 90s. But the current 15 year run has been one of the most glaring examples of absolute greed and mismanagement I have ever seen.

That said, take care of yourself. Your posts are welcomed by most of us on here. You should know that.

Did the same last year as well. Deleting FB and Twitter is best decision I have made in a while.

Jimmy Hyams has nothing and he knows it. If he wanted to do the right thing he would just quit...but instead continues to work this charade that he is the know for his own personal gain. That is a dishonorable way of doing business. Not that he's the only one...but he's a big fake who has nothing of insider info anymore who is desperately trying to keep up this illusion that he has insider info...so he can continue his clown show.

Same here. I follow a few funny twitter pages and back on volnation for a while. Staying out of the politics forum this time though. I’ve been much happier since I left it behind.

Hyams might be a moron today but when we were in Knoxville he was "the " authority on all things Tennessee. Granted that was over 20 years ago but the guy definitely had his time in the sun.

Maybe he's building back the program and you just don't recognize as such.
