What do you say?

What on field success has he had as a Head Coach?

I know the media played it like a failure, but I thought it was unreal how he recruited top 10 classes at USC, with numbers restrictions that made it impossible to recruit full classes, and that meant his teams were outnumbered every game. Only once in his years as USC head coach did they sign 20 or more players per year (if I am reading the ESPN site correctly). Once, it was 13.

Currently sitting at about 42% "yes"...I wonder what the mood on this board was when he was first announced as HC?

I don't care about the way he left at this point...I just don't think he has the goods to get us to the promise land without the NCAA breathing down our necks. Great offensive mind, but not HC material.

Hell to the yeah. I know he burned us but I really don't think he would do it again. He has a massive ego and is an a$$hole but those are exactly the guys who end up being great coaches. And with that ego he thinks he can out coach Saban and bring us back to the top and knows if he did he would be a god around here. Then and only if he won a natty here would I worry about him bolting back to the NFL.

A bunch of grown men acting like a teenage jilted lover. He made a business decision. Get over it. He would be an upgrade.

^This.

People are saying Kiffin is a douche for leaving Tennessee, but unless we rehire Fulmer or hire someone with no head coaching experience whatsoever, we'll have to hire a coach who "dumps" his current job, which apparently makes our new hire a "douche."

Have you seen the USC campus. It is about the nicest campus you can imagine. Plus they have more money than anyone. I took my daughter for a visit several years ago and they bragged how one donor had given $100 million just to the film school that year alone. Point is, while he did pull in some good classes during his short run there, you have to credit the school itself as contributing a lot to the recruiting effort.

Wow!!!!!!!

I can't believe the number of folks who would take Lane Kiffin back.....

while attacking a 20 yr old kid like Hurd for making a stupid decision that hurt himself more than the program....

:crazy::crazy::crazy:

UN-BELIEVABLE!!!

And EVERYONE who knew anything about USC's program under Carroll said that Sarkisian was the BRAINS behind their offense....

I'd take Sarkisian as OC in a heart-beat!

Can you not let Hurd go?

I'm not convinced Butch has a vocabulary that exededs 25 words, so yeah I'll take Kiffin. Hell I'll volunteer myself

Not sure if I have seen the campus, but I know about the weather, etc... but not everyone who has been there has been able to average a 4* or better per recruit. You have to remember, they were on probation, and could not even play in a bowl game. Yet, they recruited like no one else. That has to impress anyone who looks at the whole situation.

On another note, my recollection is that it was Orgeron who tried to get recruits who were on campus to transfer. That is what made me the most upset.

Kiffin is the only coach that we would have a chance at who would likely be able to form a dream-team of assistant coaches. It will take something like that if we want to truly challenge the likes of Alabama. Maybe people's pride would preclude this as a possibilty, but I think it would be worth the gamble.

2. He disregarded Tennessee history and traditions and tried to turn Knoxville into his version of Southern California. He played videos of Reggie Bush instead of any number of high quality Vol Running Backs. He dismissed everything we love about Tennessee and brought in everything we hate about the west coast.----AMEN
