If Nico, not his dad or agent, called CJH today and apologized would Tennessee take him back?

Would Tennessee put stipulations on welcoming him back like, your dad can no longer manipulate our success and thus has to “stay away?”

Would the team welcome him back? Would he need to go on an apology tour?

I ask this bc I believe Tennessee did the right thing, however, this is still not an ideal situation. I’m sure we all were excited to see Nico with his 3rd year in the system and 2nd year as a starter take massive leaps in progress. And before you answer, I’m as annoyed by this as anyone but it’s a dagger to lose your QB roughly 4 months before the season kickoff.

I think that bridge has been burned. Also the school admin went to bat for the kid and essentially his family with the NIL deal last summer and this is the thanks they get. He’s clearly talented but not worth the headache and drama and definitely not worth 4 million.

No. I think that ship has sailed and we’d look so stupid if that happened. I’d be upset if we took him back, even for free.
Dang lol. So if Nico said “hey Tennessee my bad, let me come back and I’ll play for free.”

You still wouldn’t want him? Lol. That’s cold blooded and I love it! 😎

It’s not that it’s cold blooded, but this has garnered a lot of national attention with most being on Tennessee’s side. We’d look ridiculous if we let him back after all the antics like no-showing for practice. Nico wasn’t very good anyway, and you can tell his dad he isn’t welcome on campus, but you can’t end their relationship and expect that Nic wouldn’t still be telling the kid what to do.

Fair point. And I was kidding about the “cold blooded,” thing. I think you’re being practical.

Man this situation sucks all around, but it’s kinda exciting too. Good off season drama makes the off season go by quicker until kickoff lol.

It would be up to the team. Keeping the team together is the most important thing.

I dont think so.

I am fairly sure that once CJH boots you from the team, it is a done deal.

You can't. He showed his true colors. What do you think happens if Nico did indeed come back, balls out and we find ourselves in the national championship game? We'd have the first holdout for a title game. The precedent has been set, by him. To expect any less from him from this point forward would be foolish.

No.
It may not turn out great but it was evident last year. After the OOC games. Nico in the SEC is a mid-tier SEC QB and was not getting any better and besides Vandy he just threw 5 TD passes vs SEC. He put us in the hole with zeros on the 1st half score boards 4 times where we had to rely on a great RB and great D, he held the ball too long causing multiple sacks. He was good on not throwing interceptions because he took so many sacks, but he fumbled the ball on a lot of those sacks, he missed open windows his receivers were not getting great separation but when they did he held the ball and got sacked. I think JH was in a box he had put all his collectives NIL money on one player that turned out to be mid-tier. Literally putting him in a box sink or swim. Actually, the NICO team gave Josh and out and secretly he's thanking his heavenly stars. He was given and out and he took it and the whole program will be better in the long run.

Putting all the soap opera, rumor grinding, gossip party aside for a moment…when Nico didn’t show Friday morning and killed all communication with the program (this is your QB we’re talking about) the dye was cast. Point of no return reached. Dagger to the heart was stabbed. Etc etc etc….Aint no road back. And if I’m Arkansas I am very concerned right now too!

No. First, it would be totally unfair to Nico if his dad told him to come back here because the team and admin are all against him. Second, Tennessee’s leadership is over dealing with his family and agent. In business it comes down to who you like sometimes, and they do not like the father at all now.

You can’t try to extort a school that paid you life altering money and went to bat in court on your behalf.

I think this bridge is burned. Because there is no "making up" with his teammates and the fan base.

Not a chance. Issue now is not even about ability. Nico has completely lost the locker room and there is no way he would be getting it back. There are a lot of guys who give their all for TN who make almost nothing and I can't imagine they would look at this play and have Nico's back. Unless the team is 100% behind the QB, you cannot compete at a high level.

Nope. I just can’t see that happening from a leadership and culture standpoint, The fans have turned on him and I assume he has probably burned some bridges with his teammates too. Not to mention the coaches.

It sucks but don’t look back. Disappointed because I thought Nico had a chance to make a big jump. However, I don’t want this guy as the face of our program.

He QUIT on the team. So no I would not allow him back in locker room.
