Hypothetical - if the SEC were to add two teams??

Would love to see Florida State in the SEC... But not gonna happen.

I would say... Memphis, and Louisville. Possibly Southern Miss and Tulane, or doubtfully LA Tech or UAB

Va Tech is average in basketball and baseball. TCU sucks at basketball but is pretty good at baseball.

You first suggested VPI, now your questioning the reasoning of adding Va Tech?

I would say Georgia Tech and North Carolina or NC State, possibly Duke?

I think the problem is that the majority of the candidates would likely be in the East: Clemson, GA Tech, FSU, Miami, Louisville.

Geographically, Clemson, GA Tech, and Miami would definitely be in the East. And, FSU and Louisville would likely be put in the East to match up with Florida & UK, respectively.

TX A&M would probably love to get out from under TX and OU. They'd probably be middle of the pack in the West very quickly, if not immediately. I think West Va makes the most sense in the East in terms of a team that really needs to play in a better conference.

the most natural fit is GA Tech and Clemson.

Tulane in the West and Georgia Tech in the East. After all, they were both SEC members a long time ago.
