I think it was both. I don't think many people knew Schiano was mentioned in the Penn St stuff.Really don't think the Schiano revolt was as much about Penn State as it was that people just thought he was a weak choice. THEN they latched onto the Penn State stuff to reinforce why he was a bad choice.
How so what? Just thought it was interesting. It.stuck out amoung all those posters complaining about Schinaos win loss record. You saw them? Yeah, me neither.
If we had hired James Franklin, would have there been protests since he covered up a rape or would have Franklin's W/L record been enough to overcome that?
If we had hired Brian Kelly, would have there been protests since a kid died under his watch or was his W/L record good enough to overcome that?
They still had a mini riot at the basketball game. Wasn’t shocking when Doreen passed.Posted several pic of the protest, funny none of the signs mentioned is win loss record or coaching abilities. Im.sure there were tons.
Remember when the guy at nc state entered the discussion and some.fans asked if we could protest.it and the common sentiment was no will look silly and turn off coach because the schiano protest wasnt about.coaching ability.
He didn’t “have” to jump to the NFL. He did so because his stock was hot. I remember his name being the top choice for the Hurricanes opening. His act fizzled at the pro level but there’s this dude in Tuscaloosa? Are you comparing Rutgers and Tennessee? A great job at Rutgers doesn't mean good at a school like Tennessee. He never won any conference titles at Rutgers. He had 1-2 great years. Getting to a bowl game at Rutgers is a good year. That isn't the standard for Tennessee. Also, for being such a great job, why was he never getting any other big jobs? Why did he have to jump to the NFL because he was a great college coach? Why did he only last 2 years in the NFL because of character issues and management issues?

Another thing I'll add, when Ohio State needed to name an interim coach, and they had on their staff a former FBS and NFL head coach, and instead chose to name a coordinator with no HC experience (to my knowledge) because they didn't need the baggage that came with the experienced HC, it totally validated that UT did the right thing in not hiring Schiano based on the PSU scandal.
And, as many have already stated, he's not a good HC at all. Did okay at Rutgers, but that's it.
He's done an arguably good job as DC at Ohio State, but HC? Not really.
I was talking about the OTHER guy down in Bama who got a HC gig in the NFL and didn’t knock it out of the park. Plenty of examples of college HC’s not making the translation throughout history. Lou Holtz with the Jets...all’s to say that I wouldn’t use his NFL failure as the crux of an argument against hiring him in college. Your other points were perfectly valid.I assume "this dude" is Pruitt? Thats who you are referring?
I would argue his DC experience alone speaks volumes compared to Schiano at Rutgers. Pruitt was literally able to go to 3 schools in a matter of 5 seasons and put out results and recruiting non stop. The argument of FSU, UGA, and Bama "recruiting themselves regardless of coaches" are stupid. Pruitt built a legit defensive staff that recruits lights out. Obviously offensive side of the staff is his one weak spot. I think that's why he hired Friend so quickly because of their past. I also think there were a few decisions or lack there of this year in games on offense that maybe blew a win or two.
I think Schiano has management issues and coaching issues that wouldn't work well for the type of rebuild at Tennessee. Yes he built Rutgers, but building that program compared to rebuilding Tennessee are completely different things. Rutgers has zero expectations. Tennessee does.

94% according to the poll. Some will see it as hypocritical. It depends on where you draw the line and if you believe Freeze has taken his lumps and is truly remorseful. We would take some heat from the media for sure. But that's nothing new. I'd be fine with it. I can also understand why some won't be. Fans are always going to more forgiving of a proven winner. That's not unique to this fan base.

Most of the pedophile argument was actually started and fueled by Clay Travis to try and make himself seem like a real reporter. His fear-mongering was a simple classless clickbait ploy.Really don't think the Schiano revolt was as much about Penn State as it was that people just thought he was a weak choice.
